Cant relate, this season has been awesome so far.

Caring is what makes it exciting. If you didn't care no game would really be exciting.

Georgia lost it when Vandy beat Alabama and Georgia lost to Alabama. How time flies!

Every Georgia fan I know personally, and on the internet, was absolutely ecstatic about the Vandy win over Alabama.

You are an out of touch Mizzou fan. Even after 12 years in the conference you still have no clue.

Yeah I try to pinpoint when this happened and why? Is it just a societal thing? I mean I remember growing up in the 90s and being regaled with tales of Auburn going to Sugar Bowls in the 80s like it was the Holy Grail of the sport. Now half the team's players can't even be bothered to play in the game if they make it.

SEC Championship Games used to be a way bigger deal too. The LSU fan made reference to it above, and when Georgia beat Arkansas in the 2002 SECCG, it was amazing and blissful.

The SEC only won 3 national championships between 1982 to 2002. The SEC won 14 national championships between 2003-2023.

That probably has a lot to do with it. The law of unintended consquences.

Those of you who think that finishing the season #1 is the only thing that matters are destined to lead a sad and empty life.

Enjoy the week and look forward to the games, and then do it again and again. Win or lose, every year I will see numerous plays that I will never forget.

I like your attitude and I think it's the proper attitude, but it's easier to feel like that after your team just came out of the wilderness and is relevant for the first time in years.

learned a long time ago it's dumb to get emotionally attached to things you have no control over because it's just a source of frustration. Your kids will give you all of that anyone ever needs.

So true.
I mostly evolved to just enjoy the highs and shrug off the lows. Problem is, you don’t enjoy the highs as much if you’re not very emotionally invested. That’s the rub.

Back then making it to the Sugar Bowl meant you probably won the SEC and had a chance of winning the National Championship. It was certainly the goal every year though, you weren't winning one without it most likely.

I remember there was this joke about 2 flys and knowing which one to pick, and the answer was the one that went to the sugar bowl. Something to that effect. Has no meaning now.

What happened was people see something successful and they copy it. We had only a few bowl games, so making a bowl game and especially a big one like the Sugar Bowl meant you as a team had accomplished quite a bit. Now they have so many bowl games, it just means you were an average team.

Nascar did the same thing, throwing bullshite caution fans and changing the rules to try and create a close finish every race, as if that was the only way the race would be entertaining. But then they happen so often and every fricking race ends with cautions and what use to be big moments becomes average and there aren't any big moments really anymore.

The big moments and things just get diluted for corporate profit. If they keep expanding the playoff, eventually even making the playoff won't mean much.

Soon most people are probably going to get more enjoyment from filling out playoff brackets than they will the actual games. I expect that to start this year.

Imagine being a Vandy fan for 50 plus years. Takes character for sure.

Literally that and Tony V are why LSU fans are so obsessed with all things Tennessee. Kind of weird but okay.

There's too many losses. Every game has a loser, and in the world of college football parity, it's harder than ever to finish with 0, 1 or 2 losses. Too many 3 loss and greater teams.

I realized that my team losing made me angry but even after they won, I felt nothing. I decided to step away and pursue other interests for a while.

Just learn to enjoy the sport for what it is. Sticking by a team through the rough years gives you a greater appreciation for when things get good.

This is the truth. In my teens and 20s nothing was bigger than Alabama football.

I still watch and enjoy but it's orders of magnitude less important. You get a real job, house, wife, kids, etc. I'm simply too busy to put as much mental energy into it as I used to.

It is always fun being fans of programs that never endured or knew what hard times really were.
