In my opinion all of Arky's phobias begin and end with Houston Nutt.

Because of Nutt, all non Arky fans have a lifetime supply of trolling bait that is presently manifested through Gus and Bert.

He has made a dramatic improvement for every offense he has ever coached. Now maybe the term "genius" is a bit too hyperbolic for you, but he is a great offensive coach.

They are right it is a cult. All In no matter what. Liars/cheaters, whatever it takes. Bowden told the truth about Auburn. Google Terry Bowden.

All I know is Terry would only put the mic down long enough to snort another line of coke and "google" a college girl, before getting back up on the Karaoke stage and make a complete fool out of himself.

You know Terry, people actually go to these places to sing a song themselves, that's "a song" Terry as in one, maybe 2 at the most. But NOOOOOO, not Terry. Everybody in the bar hated the guy because he thought we all wanted to watch him -- every single stinkin' night -- like he was Tom Jones at the MGM Grand in Vegas.

It was more like Jerry Lewis at the Sands Motel. It got old fast. Nobody wanted to see him stagger around trying and woo 18 year old girls by singing "Baby Face".

Okay, I wasn't really there, but that's what I've been told.

Gus did have an unfair advantage in the smaller classifications here. He had at least double the players.
However, we still steamrolled him on more than one occasion.

You should have just asked why they are more obsessed with him than their own coach. They can easily just say they don't hate him but they can't claim they didn't flood the boards with Gus threads and post all pre-season from the day Auburn hired him. More than they did about their own coach. Once their claims about him were proven to be BS they disappeared and only pop up to cry about Gus when someone talks about how good he is or when someone talks about their obsession with him. The answer is they despise him because he is successful somewhere other than Arkansas. Most claim they don't want him but don't hate him all to try to convince themselves they have everyone fooled that they aren't butthurt he is at Auburn. It's working because they believe no one can tell. Which is all the more reason they get made fun of for it.

Wow. That's awesome that you can just tap into hog fans mindsets like that. Tell me more.

I have nothing against Gus just can't stand Armani Ronnie and his minions at Shiloh and Six Flags Over Jesus. Though Nutt's act got old and it was time for him to move on the Chickendale gang had just as much to do with dividing the fanbase.

That said I don't wish him any more or less sucess than any other SEC HC.

He never desired to work at Arky for the same reasons he passed on the Vandy offer.. Gus knew chiz was tanking and Auburn was his program for the taking..

I believe this. I also believe he was wanted as head coach (to eventually be) by the Auburn AD ever since he left Arkansas in '06. It was love at first sight.

you are giving our AD waaaaaaay more credit than he ever deserves for making this hire...

it was pretty clear from 06 and on that Malzahn knows how to coach offenses... and he's smart enough to hire a good DC and stay out of his way.

Think about it. Jacobs wanted him and Tuberville was in the way. So Jacobs gets him hired and groomed under Chizik so he'll be ready to go when Chizik takes the fall. Hell, anyone with half a brain could see it coming. And it now makes sense why he wanted to bring in Chizik. Jacobs wanted Malzahn bad.
