A top ten team against a Division II team that went 9-16 last year? Why?

Is it an exhibition? I thought you couldn't schedule D-2 schools unless it's for exhibition

they're playing us pretty damn tough, only up 48-29 at half....they are a well coached team that shoots the 3 pretty well

We just played a top 25 team.

Next week we play in a Maui tourney that includes #1 Duke and #3 Gonzaga along with Arizona other good teams.

Thanks for proving you don't follow basketball.

I played baseball at MC back in the day and they were good back then. Usually had a solid team til they dropped to D3 and went back up to D2 few years ago

Because we couldn't get a D1 game that wouldn't hurt our RPI/new metric. DII games don't count, so it won't bring it RPI down.

The same reason Bama plays the Citadel in football.

This isn’t an exhibition it’s a regular season game.

This. Only way playing a D2 school hurts your RPI is if you lost. Otherwise it's like it never happened.

It counts as a win on the schedule of the D1 team but for the D2 team it counts as an exhibition and doesn't hurt their record. Tennessee did the same thing
