Without a single F4 appearance?

Some of our best teams were in the pre-seeding days. Had to play the undefeated Bobby Knight Indiana team in the Sweet 16. That was a F4 caliber team. I think we were the only team in the tournament to lose by less than 9 to them (we lost by 5). We were 23-5 that year. Beat North Carolina by 15 in the first round.

1974 - Lost to eventual national champ Indiana in Sweet 16
1985 - Made Sweet 16 as #7 seed
1986 - Sweet 16, lost to #1 seed Kentucky
1987 - Sweet 16, lost to F4 team Providence
1990 - Sweet 16, lost by 2 to Loyola (who got crushed by UNLV, just like everyone else in that tourney)
2004 - Elite Eight as a #8 Seed, lost to eventual national champ Connecticut

Not some great/awesome record, but over achieved twice, lost to two eventual champs and a F4 team, and one year no way we were getting to F4 being in the same bracket as UNLV.

An F4 appearance signifies ONE great year. Historically successful would indicate how many games you've
won, and at what rate (winning %).

Would you rather be a fan of a team with a F4 appearance and an under .500 winning %, or a team with no F4 appearance, but a .600 winning percentage and a number of conference championships?

I’d rather be a team that’s won back to back titles.

Were we talking about Florida? I thought we were talking in generalities. Would you like to answer the question that I asked?

Why has LSU only won 40% of their games against such a bad basketball program?

UA is taking way too long to renovate Coleman Coliseum, but this reflects less on any lack of commitment to basketball and more on the need to maintain BDS as the crown jewel of football. The good news is that the money earned from new premium seating at BDS will help pay for a really nice renovation of Coleman by 2022.
