LSU doesn't want Florida on their schedule every year because A) Florida isn't a true rival B) They don't want to have a decade go by before playing an SEC team again. I get that it sucks and it was one of the big reasons I was against expansion. Considering LSU has scheduled some pretty legit opponents over the years, I doubt they are complaining about their schedule being too tough.

well i'll be damned....a bama fan actually gets it

I don't understand why LSU is raising this issue now. It hasn't exactly been a hindrance to them in the last decade. They've still won two national championships and two SEC titles even in spite of playing those mean old gators every year.

Easy. Because of expansion.

It may be a slightly fairer way to do it, but I don't think it is better for the conference, college football or most of the fans in the conference.

I totally agree. I posted this over on the rant but it applies here as well.

For the most part, I applaud how the SEC has set up the permanent rivals. It is balanced, historically relevant and has worked so far.

Big 6
Bama (22) - UT (13)
LSU (11) - UF (9* one vacated)
Auburn (7) - UGA (13)

Old SEC Teams
Vandy - Ole Miss
UK - MSU

Newcomers
Arkansas - Mizzou
A&M - USC

It isn't that unfair to anyone. Each year there will be scheduling oddities, and one schedule or another will appear easier than the other, but this will all balance out. UT will eventually get off the mat and this will be a non-issue.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall a deserving team not qualifying for the SECCG because of the permanent rival game.

Like others have stated, I can only hope that with the move to a playoff, we can increase the # of conference games with out fear of beating each other up and costing the conference a shot at the title. Then everyone wins. We play historic rivals and see more teams from the other side.

I would love a 10 team conference slate. 6 division games 1 permanent rival and rotate 3 games vs the opposite division. Then, everyone would play in every stadium in a 4 year career.

Because they are upset over having to play Bama twice and losing the national championship. It is sour grapes with Bama for many.

Yeah, LSU would be the only team in America that has to play 5 of the last 6 national champions every year! Of course Bama and the rest of the SEC would want that

Because of permanent CD opponents. How are they not related?

Getting a crappy CD schedule and arguing against one of the causes is not the same argument as saying those CD games shouldn't count.

Why don't you throw in the miles between each stadium, and see if you can make that same claim.

UF fans are probably pretty flattered that LSU is acting this way

You still havent answer my question.

Why is it so hard to believe that we just want to keep our rivalry with Tennessee? We like... no, we love our rivalry with them. Many of us hold it in higher regard than the Iron Bowl. I being one of them. Don't get me wrong, I love the Iron Bowl, but if given the choice between the 2, I'd pick TSIO.

We didn't argue this. We suggested a half-point merit instead of a 1-point merit for CD wins.

It makes them less significant, yes. It wouldn't EVER happen, but it does make a bit of sense.

GTFO. We've been talking about it for years, it's just that now is the first time there has been a real opportunity to do something about it.

how many times did Bama play UF from 2000-2007? twice. Bama ducked 5 automatic losses right there.

You mean like that automatic loss we suffered to Florida in 2005?

They've been bad for a bit now but they're historically a great program. Florida stinks right now... why does everyone just assuming they're about to rise again. Bama was down for a 10 year period. This stuff always goes in cycles.

Because Florida has a recruiting base thats about a billion time better than UT's

Did So Car drive to Fayetteville? Will they have to drive to College Station? It is 909 vs 1035. That isn't much longer in the air.
