Why have a conference if you're not going to play conference teams on a regular basis

A 9 game conference schedule would be the perfect. Play every at least once every two years.

We'd still play everyone every 3 years with 8 games.

Is this 8 game vs. 9 game schedule stuff just a negotiation tactic? Sankey gets to say to ESPN "my hands are tied, these schools want 8, how do you convince them otherwise?"

“Player safety” would be the official line until ESPN kicked in a few extra incentives. Then, suddenly “we’re glad for the kids to have that extra opportunity after working so hard all offseason.”

Seems to me one extra conference game isn’t that big of a deal, but it would probably cut out a lot of the quality non conference games. Why go schedule a marquee game when the conference schedule is loaded with them.

It would mean more money for the little schools I reckon.

Dumbass, we would still play everyone every other year with 8 conference games. 1-7 model.

I agree. Stay where you are. We don't want you.

Oh look, Texas is trying to run and inevitably ruin a conference.

By all means go independent. Why join a conference when texas is as big as most planets? Please.

While I agree that 16 teams should be 9 conf. games, the issue is scheduling.

For ex.: if you do the 3 perms, WHO decides what they are? I think Tn./Vandy should be kept, but some people dropped that game from their list of must be played games.

The issue for 8 is what ANNUAL game would be kept:

WLOCP or DSOR?

DSOR or IB?

IB or TSIO?

TSIO or Tenn./Vandy?

Tex./TA&M or Tex./Ok.?

However, with 8 (or any even #) you don't have the extra H/A game factor to address.

It has already been determined that we would keep WLOCP. But obviously an 8 game conference schedule would be stupid. It needs to be 9.

Is that what the SEC calls that early November creampuff game? I get the strategy ands it’s obviously paid off for the schools that need that win, but it’s not necessary anymore with the 12 team playoff.

I’m sorry but if Texas is the one pushing 8 games, leave their arse in the Texas dust. Why would you ruin a conference for an outside program? That would be just like modern CFB.

It's always been funny when other conferences want to call out the SEC for something THEY CAN DO TOO!

Lol, you’ve been getting to play Kansas, Baylor and Iowa state every year IN CONFERENCE

And they’ve been kicking your arse at the same time you’ve been getting your arse handed to you by Utah, Maryland and similar teams
