Why don’t the really bad schools hire new coaches?

Why do you still have your coaches?
Florida was really bad so they fired Mullen. You should do the same.
If Leach doesn’t deliver next season I hope his seat gets hot too.

Why do schools pay a coach millions to not win? It’s just dumb.

Our coach is .500 in two seasons on the job and has the best recruiting class in school history coming in...

Pretty sure we don't need to fire him yet.

Don’t know how much more Beamer could have done. They played hard & seemed to be on the same page with what they were trying to do on both sides of the ball

That’s not winning, so fire him and your AD too while you’re at it.

Michigan held on to theirs that was underachieving...

They just had their best season in 20 years and are Big 10 Champs and in the playoffs.

Patience is good.

Every AD in the country asks himself the same thing. Jimmy Sexton never borrows money because of it.

If it was as easy as just writing a big check, every program in the country would go undefeated. Unfortunately, nobody fills stadiums to watch cone drills. Somebody has to win, and somebody as to lose.

And get this Plate - even with unlimited budgets, these ADs don't even see "good coach" vs "bad coach" the same way. It's just not as simple as "hire a good one".

Such is life.

Beamer took a team that was expected to win three, maybe four games and has them in a bowl game his first season. I think he did a damn good job

What a shite thread. Yes let me fire a coach who took his below avg team to a bowl game in his first year. Also let me fire a coach for not turning around Vandy overnight in his first year.

If you were AD you’d have your athletic department in bankruptcy from the buyouts every year. Not even gonna give a coach a chance to recruit his own players

It's not as simple as hire new coach = profit. But even if it were, there are 130 D1 football teams and only a handful of coaches that are better than mediocre.

It is disappointing that SoCar got their shite pushed in by Clempsom.

Could have at least put up a fight.

Sure. Go ahead and fire a coach after a year in a rebuild and see how many new coaches will be interested in your job. Idiot

They held on to him for the same reasons we held on to Johnny Majors -- both had proven records elsewhere and both had come home to save their alma maters. And I don't think being a beloved alum would've been enough by itself. Johnny had a National Championship and Harbaugh had NFC titles and a Super Bowl appearance.
