Btw those of you that do love in Memphis. Go check out Elena's taco shop and get the California carne asada burrito. Thank me later

I recently moved out to Lakeland and JUST saw this place the other day and been wanting to try it. Almost stopped in last night but took my first visit to Slim Chickens. I HIGHLY recommend it

And I'll definitely be stopping by Elena's tonight. Thanks!

Memphis is the biggest small town in the country. Everyone knows everyone. It's not a shithole. Sure, there are shitty areas, but there are shitty areas everywhere. Baton Rouge, Nashville, Atlanta, all of College Station. Like another poster said, most of you are over exaggerating

Downtown Memphis is a lot safer and nicer than it was in the 90's and early 2000's

Yep, I noticed that when I downloaded the app to start earning rewards because let's face it...now that I've had a taste, I'll be spending a lot of money there. It's delicious. Knew you hogs were good for something!

They should rotate the baseball tourney as well. Give other fans a chance to see it.

Just in the past month I have had 3 people I either knew personally or were friends with their their family that were outright murdered without reasoning. One was the Kroger shooter victim, the other a student, and another attacked in a parking lot with nothing stolen… just murdered by someone who later stated they “didn do nuthn” even with 3 cameras recording the full incident.

I can say this with experience but…

Houston is in Germantown and part of the Germantown school system. Whitestation and Ridgeway are the two MCS that have optional programs with good AP classes, but you have to enter a lottery (or have money) to get into those programs.

A couple of years ago Memphis City and Shelby County schools consolidated into one school system.

What about the murder in Starkville a couple of months ago, or the cold blooded murder in Amory, or the rapist in Amory, or the guy Southaven police killed at a panic show years ago.

Just because you have personal bad experience doesn't mean everyone has had a bad experience. People come from all over the world to work, train or get treated at ST Jude. Methodist also had a great children's hospital. If you let one incident ruin your thoughts of a place then I'm sorry. People get shot all over this country. I was on campus during the terrorist thing at State. Doesn't mean I have bad feelings towards it.

Mississippi is a shithole and it's why there is a huge brain drain. More state grads are moving to Memphis for jobs than any other city in Mississippi. I love my birth home but I will not be moving back. Ever. I will stay near cause of family and friends but I see myself most likely ending up in east Tennessee, NC, or maybe NE Arkansas. Hell I may stay in Memphis my whole life. I have tons of friends here that are from all over. The city embraced me and made me feel like this is a place I can call home.

And Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Arlington all broke away and created their own municipal school systems. Only Germantown High School stayed in what is now Shelby County Schools

Would you rather walk down the street in downtown memphis or would you rather walk down the street in downtown Corinth, MS?

You can play that game with anywhere but by percentage and statistics Memphis is a cancer to the area around it. I live in Desoto County and have for over 25 years. The crime always moves south and east FROM Memphis. Take that as you will but it’s the truth and backed by crime stats.

I’d rather have my kids raised in a small town and risk those chances than ANYWHERE in Memphis PERIOD.

Again… F U C K Memphis

First off, fawk all of y'all Memphis downgraders.

Second, Memphis only loves SEC football, mainly because the Tigers have never consistently been nationally relevant. Basketball-wise, 90% of the city couldn't care less about any SEC team. The way Miami is about "the U" in football and Louisville is about their Basketball, that's how Memphis is about Tiger basketball.

I walked around Memphis my entire life (in HS and after college downtown) and never had an issue.

You couldn’t pay me enough to live in a small city like Corinth. I’d go insane from there being nothing to do.

Also Memphis has more crime because it’s has way more people than Corinth, MS.

Sorry you are poor and have to live in Corinth.

Again, 1/4 of the field for the WGC event stay downtown and are out downtown the week of the event so I guess they feel it’s safe enough.

I guess it’s safe enough for huge corporations to be headquarter down there. Guess it’s safe enough to have 2nd round of NCAA tournament and Grizz games
