Wasn't comparing the two. Just saying that it's too hot in the South to play and that we're just catching on to soccer.

Why isn’t cricket embraced in the South? Huge Indian and West Indies population in metro Atlanta.

Needs to happen.
Fun sport & big revenue.

The SEC can't/won't 'support' ANY additional sports [particularly men's] due to title 9 mandates to fully fund ALL women's sports with revenues derived from....wait for it...MEN'S sports !

In all fairness, almost every sport—men’s and women’s—is funded by football.
That said, I’d love to see the system change.
Men’s sports are more popular; therefore, more men’s sports should exist.

1) lack of infrastructure - I know of one place within 100 miles with a rink and it's only open for a short time. There are no frozen ponds either. At best, they last a few days when they do happen.
2) Title IX for sure - It limits lot of things and we are not giving up our baseball. Soccer is easy to set up infrastructure when comparted to hockey, we have lots of open fields. We even have a growing population that loves soccer but it's waaay behind baseball in my area.
I will say many of us southerner's don't appreciate it for just how good a sport it can be. I have been to a couple games and loved the speed and constant action. Heck, I need two intermissions to make it through a game.

I just heard that Lindenwood will be moving to D1 in two years. They’ll become the first Missouri team to play at that level since SLU in the 70’s.

Ha !
I was mentally exhausted after 2019. The Cup is not called the toughest championship to win in North America for nothing.

Uh, the big 3 college sports were created by “Yankees”.

Because we literally cannot play the sport or learn how to play it as kids.

I just don't think we have enough people interested down here. LSU had a club team years back that my old coach coached.
My dad found a league in New Orleans when I was 5, played until I was 17. We won the junior olympics that was hosted in New Orleans in 2005. We had a few leagues down there and would also play in Baton Rouge a lot but after Katrina the leagues never really gained traction like they did before.
There were a lot more rinks back then and a lot more opportunity to play. All this stuff about it's too hot and it's a yankee sport is BS. Hockey is very exciting to watch and is definitely the most fun sport to play. Don't knock it till you try it.

Which 3 sports were these?

But they are dominated by the South

Pretty sure most of Europe sees everyone in the USA as a Yankee. It's not a regional thing to them

My guess would be lack of ice rinks in the SEC? Sure, your larger cities may have one, but maybe not enough interest in the smaller cities?
