Crap on Arkansas all you want.

But here is some truth.

Arkansas has won the SEC West 3 times and appeared in SEC title game 3 times.

Ole Miss has zero trips to SEC title game.

4&8 has zero.

4&8 also crowed about "NUMBAH ONE CROOTIN CLASS" for darn near a year before losing to App State.

North Louisiana is great for recruiting and is way more culturally similar to Ark than LA.

Arkansas has very little in state talent and has to compete with the other schools in LA or TX. Auburn for example has way more available talent. That said Arkansas recruited TX big time and lost that when moving to the SEC. Add to that a line of coaching hires after Hatfield have not gone well. Get the wrong people running the ship and big time programs can go down aka Tenner.

The same reason we don’t rag MIss St as much, because they aren’t overly retarded entitled assholes. They take what they got, chat some pride and reasonable smack and take their shots.

This tweet from Jeff long 5 years ago explains why we can’t have nice things:

Amazing, given that it's coming from the guy who got fired after it came out that he hired Les Miles despite knowing about his recent affairs

Hatfield was good and was national coach of the year at Air Force prior. But Arkansas ran him off and never mind that he had Arkansas finished in the top 20 each year.

Then they hired Jack Crowe, lost to the Citadel and never recovered.

Long was fired two months after that tweet for reasons unknown but I think it had to do with scandals that was swept under the rug.

It’s been over a decade since Arkansas finished 3rd in the West. Since the West has gotten ultra competitive (multiple national titles from 3 different teams) Arkansas hasn’t been relevant.

Comparing Hatfield tenure to any coach that had to coach an sec schedule is silly. There are two eras in Arkansas football and they should be looked at that way. Before and after SEC.
Nutt took us to two sec tital games in 10 years. Tied for the west another year. He had respected tough teams. Thats our top end over 10 years.

Everybody continually posts about firing coaches and transfer portals and NIL, why teams are “ unsuccessful”. I’m just thinking out loud so to speak, spitballing… is it possible that we are experiencing a time where there just aren’t that many high quality head coaches available? As an example, supposing A&M does get rid Fischer, who do you hire to replace him? Oranda? Sweeney? That’s if they’d take the job. There seems to be a huge drop off between the two or three at the top and then the next tier. What do you all think?

Hatfield is the superior to Nutt no matter what conference he coaches in period. He had limits but wasn't lazy and took advantage of his situations for the most part unlike Nutt who didn't coach to win but milked his job security as much as he could.

Nutt only had one outright West title but went 18-16 with the best backfield in SEC history. Left the program with little talent when Petrino was hired then ran Ole Miss into the ground.

He sucked and lasted way longer than he should because Arkansas doesn't care about being good in football and the results show they have zero expectations.

Like I said, you’re playing an exceedingly difficult game with less ammo than everyone else. As your AD I would shoot for an up and comer with a high Octane Spread offense. Get the right QB from Texas or wherever and embrace that identity to the core. It’s just difficult for Arkansas to compete otherwise with the lack of recruiting resources.

Arkansas tried that failed experiment with Chad. Arkansas needs someone with head coaching experience that will improve what Sam did here and his time is coming to an end soon.
