The program was always in over their heads in the SEC in terms of football.

The worst in state recruiting in the entire conference combined with being in the toughest division in the country for the last 2 decades. Their biggest mistake was moving to the SEC. They probably would’ve won the Big12 a handle of times in the last 30 years and probably would have a way better pipeline into Texas.

We knew this coming in, but it was worth it to get away from the state of texas. Now we get another one coming in.


We were strong somewhat in state until the central Arkansas football went to crap, we got some very good players from the Little Rock schools back then. The talent in state seems to be getting better but I haven't seen the beast type of players like some of the other SEC states have. Well except for Burks, that's the type of players we need.


But we'll keep poking along and maybe some day we'll domino for a season then fire the coach two years later.

This is a question we regularly ask ourselves and hypothetically pose to the administration on message boards and social media all the time.

Arkansas has enough money,
top of the line facilities, fan support, and tradition to at least be one of the mid to upper-middle of the pack SEC teams in football. They're about on even footing with Auburn as far as all of the above goes, but without the Auburn results.

There's no reason Arkansas couldn't compete in the title race every several years like Auburn, except for the fact that Arkansas doesn't have the recent history to support that winning culture and high expectations. There's also still a lot of big money influencers that like to put their hands in the pot and sway things their way, but they know nothing about establishing a successful SEC football program and mostly just want influence and to give their names "cred" in the small pond that is Arkansas.

Basically it boils down to the fact that Arkansas is a tens-of-millions of dollars per year revenue, and state of the art facilities, football program that's still stuck in the smalltime program mindset behind the scenes

Arkansas fans suffered so much under Bert and Chad that I genuinely felt sorry for them. It was like watching a boxer take blows after they were out cold lying dead on the mat.

Aggie fans have had one bad year and a bunch of mediocre seasons but nothing like the hell that Arkansas fans suffered already. If things continue going south you will eventually get bored of making fun of us. Nobody shite talks Vandy or South Carolina on this board.
