Sorry, got busy.

So I assume you fully endorse Alabama getting into the 2011 title game because they played a harder schedule then Okie State?

I was under the impression Okie State played a harder schedule. But yes if both teams finish with the same record you take the one with the tougher schedule (H2H matters less than SOS if that happens to be part of the equation also).

And sorry but 11-0 beats 9-0-1 every single time. If Notre Dame was so good, they shouldn't have tied Michigan State.

Totally disagree. A team that is 25-0 against 25 cupcakes is not as deserving as a team that is 10-0 against 3-4 good teams. The Michigan tie is even a point in NDs favor IMO as they were undefeated, #2 and the game was at MSU.

Apparently the best coach ever, in his prime at that time, had no clue what he was talking about. Right?

Not really relevant or even a serious comment by him.

They claim a title in 1973 yet lost to ND

They also claim one from 1964 when they proceeded to lose their bowl to Texas. That's why most fans consider Arkansas the 1964 National Champion in football.

And at the same time, they scoff at the three titles Ole Miss claims...This is why they suck.

That was the damn system back then. UPI named the champs prior to the bowls. Hell, for years both wire services did that. 'Bama wasn't the only school to lose their bowl game after being crowned the MNC. No reason not to claim it. Now some of those K-Mart titles that some teams claim are a bit of a stretch. I'm satisfied with three that can't be questioned and hope for a couple more before I cash in.

Just like your Gophers claim 1960 despite losing their bowl game.

50 Oklahoma
51 Tennessee
53 Maryland
57 Auburn (banned)
60 Minnesota
65 Michigan State
70 Texas
74 Oklahoma (banned)

Not to mention all the years that teams like Army (44, 45) Michigan State (52), Notre Dame (43, 46, 47, 49, 66) Pittsburgh (37) and others who outright refused to play in a bowl.

Michigan State could not play in a bowl game. Until the 1975 season the only bowl a Big 10 team could play in was the Rose Bowl. And, until the 1972 season, there was a "no repeat" rule. Michigan State won the Big 10 in 1965 and went to the Rose and won again in 1966. Purdue was the Big 10 'representative.'

Yes, I'm aware of the rule...which MIchigan State as a Big Ten member helped propogate. The Pac 10 had the same rule. And Notre Dame refused to play in bowls. Funny how everyone but Bama fans want to give them a pass for that.

In case you have forgotten, the rankings then were just as biased, all the northern teams were ranked if they had any kind of team at all to start the season.

You say Notre Dame played four top ten teams, I say B.S., they played Southern Cal and Oklahoma who were top ten at the time, but both teams finished with four losses.

Out of the final poll, coaches poll since the A.P. was only a Top 10 poll at this time, here is the teams played that were ranked.

Notre Dame played Mich St. 2
Purdue number 6 Southen Cal number 19

Bama played Nebraska number 7
Ole Miss number 12
Tennessee number 14

On top of that Florida won the Orange bowl
Alabama won the Sugar bowl
Georgia won the Cotton bowl.

I think this proves the SEC was the best conference.

The problem with your argument is that you would have the opposite argument if the teams were reversed.

I discount all the debatable ones, and then take these with Saban away too since the NCAA will be doing that in a few years anyway. That puts you guys behind ND, OU, and probably some other schools

Well done sir!

Well, an Auburn fan's post wondering how the thread got to be this long makes its' own contribution, I guess.

I never get why people make posts complaining about the length of threads...thereby extending the length of said thread.

So it's our fault that Auburn ducked in 66? Quit dragging down our SOS.
