Why Do People Think A Bye In the CFP is a Good Idea?

This isn't professional football. A bye week in a college football playoff is a completely unfair advantage. The 1 and 2 seed would play for the national championship every single year. Keep it at 4 or move it to 8, but 6 is a terrible idea.
Bad reasons so far:
1. The regular season needs to mean something! - Guess what? It does. It get's you a better seed which puts you in a better position to win.
2. If a team goes #1 or #2, they've earned it. - No they haven't. That's a massive advantage that the winners of the bottom games wouldn't' be able to overcome. You earned your seed. You play against a lesser opponent and should have no trouble winning. Especially when you get location preference in bowl selection.
3. 8 team playoff could lead to undeserving teams making it in. - Guess what? If they don't deserve to be in, they will lose to the top seeds. And the top seeds will have earned an easier opponent. But if they beat a top seed, then I guess they did deserve it.

Unless it's played at the end of the year. Even then injury issues may not have time to heal.
However, a long layoff is seldom good from a pure football standpoint.

Because That makes the regular season worth something. The #1 and #2 team should have an advantage.

But what is 2,3,4 all have equal regular seasons with same number of wins and conference championships

Fabricated drama.
Good Lord people. Even Jim Delaney, when asked on Sunday about expansion, replied that it wasn't a good idea. He even went further to clarify his position by stating if the schools in the B1G had taken care of business, they wouldn't have been left out.
It's staying at four, wring your hands and worry over something else.

So you're saying the 1 and 2 seed are always the two best teams?

I concur. 2 teams getting a bye while the other 4 have to prepare for and play a game which will likely be very physically and emotionally draining due to the stakes would be too much of an advantage for the 1 and 2 seeds.
Furthermore, the bickering would not only come from the 7th and 8th ranked teams left out, but also the 3rd, 4th and even 5th ranked teams who might have comparable 'resumes' to 1 and/or 2 and feel that they should get the top seed and the bye.
Playoff should probably just stay at 4 but if it expands I think it has to be 8. Problem with 8 teams is you will start getting 3 and maybe even 4-loss teams in the playoff depending on the circumstances.

They do have an advantage and would still have an advantage if it went to 8. A 6 the playoff gives them an unfair advantage.

Byes are not unfair because they are earned. They provide strong incentive to finish at the top.
Finishing #1 should be rewarded. Keeps the regular season more relevant.
Bamas loss to Auburn would have cost us a bye for example.

If we have an 8 team playoff, the #1 and #2 do have an advantage. Playing the #7 and #8 teams which aren't as good.
