Why Do Ole Miss Fans Wave the Rebel Flag?

First of all I am most definitely NOT a PC type of guy. That being said, how do the black athletes who play, and win, for Ole Miss feel about this? It seems very disrespectful to me.

This phenomenon does just apply to Ole Miss.

I'm not going to act like we don't have some idiots with them waving off 4x4 trucks or motor homes.

maybe they've taken a liking to it.. i mean it could be like how blacks took over the "N" word and used it in a positive spin to each other..

Because some don't associate "southern heritage" with racism. It's obviously not on the level of a Nazi swastika, but it does represent unacceptable actions and overall treason to the union.

i didn't notice any of the stars and bars this year in when we played em.

They all used to fly those before they started waving the M with the stars. I distinctly saw the confederate flag being waved on a replay of a game against Florida in the 80's several years ago on TV. All the fans waved them. I guess some have not given up on it.

You are completly mistaken. OM fans haven't waved the Rebel flag since Tubby was the coach. He actually got them to refrain from flying this flag. They now wave this goofy looking "M" flag that makes me want to beat the frick out of any Ole Miss fan in my section. This makes me hate Ole Miss even more. I respect the Rebel flag, but not this dumbfrick little "M" flag. frick Ole Miss, and frick their stupid looking little "M" flag.

I guess it means different things to different people. I'm just wondering how blacks in Mississippi, esp those who play for Ole Miss, feel about it being waved at games.
