bama got him on the rebound because he "wasn't successful" in the NFL. And to think, that NFL HC attempt only lasted what.... 2yrs?? Glad he gave it 100%.

I’m not sure where this LSU shite came from, I guess from LSU fans only.

Look no further than your own head coach since he always seems to schedule the bye week before the LSU game..

Things that make you go hmmmm....

Hi JackNola.

The amount of Gumps getting banned and coming back with obvious alters is truly something else.

They literally cannot stay away from this LSU website.

Because LSU has won 3 National Championships since 2003 and Bama as won 6.

He realized he had made a mistake 6 months after leaving LSU. He told Sexton if it ever looked like the LSU, UGA or Bammer HC jobs looked to have a opening Sexton had permission to initiate talks with those 3 schools without asking him.

LMAO, your own coach has made it a rivalry. Ask Nicky. Why does he schedule an open date every year before the LSU game?

By the way, do Auburn or Tennessee have 3 national championships since 2003? Hell, do they have that many in the last 50 years?

I am one LSU fan who doesn't create a 'fictitious rivalry' with Alabama; I just loathe Alabama and it's stupid fans.

Has nothing to do with where the bye is scheduled. It's placed here for the stretch run of the season. If we still had two byes one bye week would be in October sometime and the week before Auburn like it was.

As far as the question, it started with Saban. him going to Bama was a BIG deal to LSU fans. It's a big game but the hate from Bama just isn't there like it is for UT and Auburn and the LSU hate from Bama only came about with Saban moving in. There is no talk of this game on the local radio while in Baton Rouge it's nothing but Bama talk. CBS also had a hand in this with the Saban Bowl, etc. This game will die when Saban retires.

It is kind of weird how much they hate us, on this board, and social media at least. Bama fans don't really hate LSU that much. I don't. I love going to BR for Bama games, and always have a kick-arse time. Its a strange, one-sided hate affair, on the internet at least.

As far as a rivalry goes, it definitely is. Not to the extent AU or UT is, but I consider it a rivalry.

Someone posted scientific proof within the past week that Alabama considers LSU its biggest sports rival, while Louisiana considers the Atlanta Falcons its most hated team.

Sorry for your ignorance.

Funny how CBS thinks it's the biggest rivalry in the SEC and possibly nationally putting it at night time primetime

We give nicknames to our big rivalries like "The Iron Bowl" and "The third Saturday in October"

One of my best friends is a bama fan. Lives in La but has season tickets and goes to all the major bowl games BCS games. We have fun back and forth but it is nothing like the stuff on the internet. The internet makes people stupid. IRL most interactions I have had with bama fans have been respectful about each others programs.

I went to a LSU game at BR in the early 90's when I was in College. Had a great time. LSU fans invited me in to their tailgate then took me to a pretty wild bar after the game. I think it was called Murphys ?

You can deny it all you want. Maybe it's not as historical but as a matchup, LSU vs Bama has the following:

1. One of the most viewed annual matchups over the last 15 years
2. 2nd most frequent matchup on college gameday (was tied for 1st with Ohio St/Penn St, this past week gave OSU/PSU the outright lead, we'll see if they go again this year over Mizzou/UGA or Washington/USC)
3. Most OT games of any matchup in CFB with 5
4. Since Saban has gotten there LSU is tied for most wins vs Bama with Auburn at 5 a piece

Is Bama/LSU as historic or classic of a rivalry as Tennessee or Auburn? No, but it's not just some other game on the schedule either by just about any metric. I expect yet another classic in a little over a week.

I never did either. I think it's because most Bama fans don't suck up to LSU and their fans the way everyone and the media does. LSU was never truly relevant prior to Saban coaching there. I've been to BR for Bama-LSU games and left (every time after a win) with great stories and met awesome people. Saban did make it a rivalry, but it will never be at the level of UT or Auburn.

An honest and good man.

I do not hate Bama. I respect their program and what they have achieved. And I want to have something similar at LSU (though I doubt we ever will). I recognize that the road to the SEC championship every year goes through Bama. Just the way it is.

We could have the “I don’t like you and you don’t like me” bowl.
