Wait, I know this answer
Because LSU steals from cancer ridden children and rapes more women than JackNola did in Vietnam.

That was a big time game and a trip of a lifetime for many UGA fans. Most went to the Cubs game the night before and then traveled to South Bend for the game. ND fans were super pissed at the amount of UGA fans
There was also a Falcons/Bears game in Chicago the next day. For those who could afford it, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Partly because their fanbases are spread out around the country. Same reason Ohio state travels so well
Do not forget BYU!

This thread was about traveling, not about the teams or the program. Do they not teach reading in Missouri?

If you had the chance to get out of Soviet Russia, I mean College Station, every once in a while. Wouldn't you do it?
This last quote was by you(an Arkansas fan). Is this acceptable? No since it attacked Texas A&M. I added Missouri to it since Arkansas fans were attacking Missouri too in other threads. Both Texas A&M and Missouri have kept beating Arkansas in football. So maybe you need to tell yourself and all your Arkansas fans to stop posting comments that goes against Arkansas football and making a fool of themselves.

quote:I think that's something that a lot of folks don't realize. You want to talk about easy travel, we had it in the SWC days, but, from 1994 onwards, we only had one short road trip on the schedule every year--either Waco or Austin. Now, that's not to say that we traveled great in the Big XII days--who wants to go to Ames, after all (can't believe I went five times)? But, once we joined the SEC, a lot of our fans wanted to travel to the new venues, had a lot of fun, and just decided to make a habit out of it. Also, we do have a big alumni base, and those much larger classes from the '80s and '90s are getting old enough to spend real money on travel.quote:
Back in the Big 12, an Aggie recruiter could tell the parents they'd be able to travel to most of the away games since they were all relatively close (Waco, Austin, Ft. Worth, Lubbock, etc.).
Not entirely true.
The only close Texas schools were UTex (ATX) and Baylor (Waco).
Lubbock is a 7 hour drive from College Station.
Fort Worth wasn’t a B12 city.
Our games were in Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

Since OP was genuinely asking, I think the post prior to my last one sums it up well. SEC football venues and opponents are MUCH more interesting compared to Big 12 ones, atleast when A&M was still around. That conference was a shotgun marriage that made enough sense geographically to work but wasn't even supposed to happen when the SWC dissolved. It and the Big 8 were great conferences separately, but I didn't give a rat's arse about playing them for the most part and especially helping the Oklahoma schools in recruiting.

We've got lots of money from oil and bama lap dance. Mostly the sweaty lap dance cash.

Not a well thought out post. Easier to tell a recruit and his family you want to play on national tv against the likes of a’Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, etc...or you want to play in Lubbock, Waco, Ft Worth, Lawrence or Manhattan (Kansas), Stillwater, Morgantown (wtf is that?)

Parents of players can be selfish. They do what is in their best interest over the players and make the decision for them.

I’d say we are doing fine recruiting wise compared to the Big 12 days
