Why would you fault a guy for taking a higher paying job, in a better city, with a school that has an amazing history in baseball?

You sound like a bitter little girl.

I've seen Aggies that hope he fails, but I haven't seen any that actually think he won't be successful

I think you are reading in some ideas from the comments that may or not be true.

I have no idea if if Schloss will fail or not. And anyone who says they do is a liar. I do know that it takes more than just a great coach to get a team to the CWS. His previous record indicates that he knows what it takes but getting all those pieces together at the right time takes some doing.

Maybe he will or maybe he won't. Time will tell.

Schloss is the baseball version of Brian Kelly.

Good coach but hasn't won a natty.

Left for what he viewed as better situation and it made a lot of people mad, thus he became a "POS" and a "swinger" etc

By my (and maybe your) standards I think he will be successful but will Texas fans be happy with a regional exit in year one and two with a finish more in the middle of the SEC standings? Because that’s a very possible result.

I think this is reasonable. Being in the middle of the SEC doesn’t always equate to being bounced early because the league is that tough. I think LSU was similar at the end of Mainieri’s tenure. I just wanted to be a regular at the Supers on average. Get to Omaha and anything can happen.

A couple of differences.

Notre Dame football had won many natties prior to Kelly. That’s not the case with Schloss at TCU and aTm.

Also, the argument was ND didn’t have the resources to compete in BCS and 4 team CFP (at the time). There is zero reason for Texas baseball to not be competing at the highest level. I’d argue Texas baseball has a higher ceiling than Texas football.

Because he’s his own worst enemy.

He’ll eventually trip over his ego in Austin, as well as who he is as a person, just he has in every other place he’s been. He can’t help himself.

He’s not a good guy (and anyone with a kid who plays select HS baseball knows this … it’s not a secret).

But I hope they enjoy the ride.

Nah, as others have already pointed out…. you’ve just created a straw man argument to argue against.

Yet somehow he still brings in elite talent and had A&M playing for a natty last season.

I get that you guys are pissed but these narratives really make no sense.

Look what happened to Tulane when he left for UNLV. The Green Wave crashed so hard that once they found a coach that turned the program around Texas hired him.

You won’t ever see me defending the hire. Due diligence was not done.

The Schloss to t.u. move was inevitable, and anyone who was paying attention and knew the CDC connection should have known that — clearly our powers that be failed.

Shame on us. But good fricking riddance.

at a program like Texas with the portal? Probably to make the CWS by year 2 if not this year and they're going to expect a national title in the not too distant future

I mean your program is probably in a better place now than it was pre Schloss.

The situation with him was probably better for A&M than having some loser for several years and then firing him.

he's better than that

He literally built the TCU program from nothing and took them to 5 CWS in 7 years including 4 straight.

He then took over an A&M program and went to the CWS in year one and had a runner-up finish in year 3. National title or not, the dude is one of the best in the game. Winning a national title in baseball takes a lot more luck than it does in football. The format of the NCAAT isn't conducive to the best team winning most years. Same can be said for basketball. Football until really this season, you didn't have that issue. If you were the best team in the country, you either had to win 1 or 2 games at the end to win a national title. Baseball requires you to go through multiple elimination rounds, and the natural variance game to game makes winning the whole thing very difficult. There's a reason why only 2 #1 overall seeds have won the CWS since they stated ranking teams in 1999.
