The SEC wanted SC and Arkansas in 92. Arky and Aggies didn't even join together

Did you expect OP to know that?

Simple, Texas and OU are blue bloods.

You have a terrible memory, at least in the case of A&M and Mizzou. The crybabies were out in full force about it and in some cases still are.

Oklahoma really messed up in the last round of expansion. I was so mad at Boren for allowing A&M and Missouri to take the initiative.

LHN obviously played a role as OU didn’t want to move without Texas but Boren also was consumed with flirtations with the PAC and wasn’t willing to leave OSU behind.

That certainly harmed our program. Luckily we were able to right that wrong.

Why was OU scared to leave for SEC without Texas? You guys hadn’t even been in the same conference with each other until the Big 12 was created in the mid 1990s. You still would have had your yearly state fair game with them.

I could see Texas having gone to the PAC back then, but OU would have been a weird fit culture wise.

OU probably preferred to continue the easier path to conference dominance and thus making the playoff by staying put. Plus keeping the main rivalries intact via the Big 12.

I was never a big fan of the Big 12 and its shotgun marriage origin with the SWC and Big 8 but am glad to play the Sooners again every few years now in the SEC.

You answered your own question. It's because they are Arkansas and Texas A&M. There was also South Carolina and Mizzou. Both times, the SEC didn't get the team they really wanted - Texas.

Yes, who will supply the drum major for the dildo parade if UTrans isn’t here to rescue the day.

It has little to do with cowardice, but I can see why a fan of a school we abused throughout its history would want to think that.

The history most around here remember is Arkansas owning since they joined the sec over 30 years ago. But keep living in the very distant past if that’s what turns you on.
