An opinion you will only find on LSU message boards. Everyone else has said it was the right move.

Yes, very slow. I can see angles on why one would and would not continue to let him coach. It seems you know the reason. What is it?

Not true.
Saban, Herbie, McAfee, and Howard on Gameday all said Ole Miss should’ve allowed Kiffin to coach.
It’s one near as one sided as yall act.

“From a leadership standpoint, we felt like it was best to not have someone in that position leading our team if they were not going to be our coach the following year,” Banks said. “We felt like anybody that was leaving as a head coach couldn’t be a true leader in that moment. What we needed was somebody that was concrete, somebody who was going to be there and wasn’t already somewhere else in their mind.
“It wasn’t easy for anybody, but from a leadership standpoint, we felt like that’s what was best for us. You start from the top down in any hierarchy, and if the top’s not there, he can’t lead"
Tyler Banks #38 for the Rebels. The #38 means something special at Ole Miss. The leaders of the team wanted Kiffin gone

Most of the team wanted him to. Their AD felt slighted and acted like a prick.
And yet…
quote:
Linebacker Tyler Banks, who, like Sanders, is also a member of the team’s leadership council, said it was made perfectly clear to Kiffin by the leadership council that if he were indeed going to take the LSU job that he needed to leave the football complex and that the players did not want him to stay on as coach in the playoff.
Forgive me if I don’t believe you heifer.

He can say whatever he wants now, but this is the same Nick Saban who fired Kiffin in this exact same scenario because he wasn't professional enough to handle two jobs. Throw in now that the second job would be with an archrival, and it's absurd to think he would behave professionally.

Thanks, it makes sense. I’m trying to find an article containing this quote but can’t find it.
Where does this quote come from?

An on3 Chris Low article. Kiffin has lied and lied about the players wanting him to stay. But, the media usually just listens to Kiffin and not the actual players that were in the room
Posted on 12/31/25 at 2:28 pm to theyatoak
Because at the end of the day OM was more concerned about winning the PR war versus a National Championship.

Are there actual quotes or interviews with the OM players saying they didn’t want Kiffin coaching?
How many players didn’t want him coaching?
So, they took a players vote?

I think there are coaches you could trust to be focused on winning a national championship and handling things the right way. Lane is not one of those coaches. Pete, Keith Carter etc.. said from day one they had no doubt they could trust Weiss to be focused and do things the right way. Saban admitted he let Kirby stay on and coach even tho he had accepted the uga job but he didn't let kiffin. Reason being Kirby was mature enough and respectful enough to do what he had to do for bama and uga and be on the up and up about everything. There is zero chance we could believe lane would be focused on game planning for uga instead of texting with known racist Ryan Clarke about getting him on first take or honestly trying to lose so he can get to Baton Rouge sooner and show a Lacy or Chambliss they can't win at ole Miss.
Lane has proven Keith Carter to be 100% correct in knowing lane could not be trusted

The logic behind not letting him is he’d be in a position to influence players to follow him to LSU, however letting the assistants coach does the same shite

The leadership counsel voted. Tyler Banks "sternly told him to leave the building." This has been reported by Chris Low of on3, Neal Mcready of 247 and tweeted by Rebels Brycen Sanders, Sunterine Perkins and others on the leadership council

Wrong. The players wanted him to finish this season. The A.D. did not.
