If it hasn't already been said...

It's because a qb at Bama never has to develop. When you've got NFL level offensive line and running backs and receivers, and NFL level defense all around, you don't have to carry your team at quarterback, you just have to be serviceable and you are going to look good at Bama.

Short dual threat qbs have a real relevant history in the NFL.

Apparently what AJ does is working...

For the most part I agree. He does a good job of staying out of the way. When asked to make a play though, like on 11/10, he comes up short. There's nothing wrong with that, just accept him for what he is, which is a more hyped Greg McElroy

C'mon, man, he was placed in that spot like twice last year. He came through on the road against LSU. That was a stellar screen pass worthy of crying over. I keed, I keed.

I agree you should have run the ball. But when your fans say it and get all mad about calling for the pass, you are admitting McCarron is a role player and you don't trust him with the ball in his hands when it matters.

No. When all 5 of your offensive lineman are sure NFL draft picks, including 3 top 15 guys, and you have 2 of the best HB's in college football, you should almost always run the ball on the goal line. Even with a stud at QB, why risk throwing the ball?

This entire thread has made me finally realize, as a Bama fan, that Bama is indeed awful. Furthermore last year, particularly against A&M, Bama flat out sucks. In conclusion, when we suck we win three out of four crystal balls. FML!!!!

AJ earned the nation's respect when he got in fight with his center when his team was blowing out ND. It also put the fear of SABAN in us that his players would be wound so tight.

I'll take your word on that

Only the slowest of CFB fans didn't already know Saban's pedigree

I can't tell if you're kidding or not. Vick has been spotty and Wilson has played for one year. They're not bad or really good either.

Also, Wilson read through progressions and ran when needed. The knock on Manziel is that he ad-libs as soon as the first progression is not there. Now, that was an opinion I read half way through last season, so he may have improved there.

It might help if you watched a few Alabama games besides his worst game of the year. 30 TD's to 3 INT's. That is unreal awareness in the pocket and will be very attractive to NFL teams who like to rely on smart QB's, a physical run game, and a dominant defense to win Super Bowls.

That actually isn't true but keep telling yourself AJ is a game manager. He has lost as many games as a starter in two years that Johnny Hypeman lost in one.

Everyone knows Saban's pedigree but most fans outside the SEC aren't constantly reminded of it. That was very demonstrative of said pedigree.

Nah, we can't be lucky enough to have a big time winner like Aaron Murray
