I want to say Mythbusters busted that myth. After a little while the players learn how to shoot for the inevitable small gaps while the big guy has too much bulk to react.

But as to the 7ft tall WRs... I know of at least one that 6'10". And of all the places he played at Army.

Alejandro Villanueva is an interesting character. He was born in the US while his dad, a Spanish Naval officer was assigned here. He was... an interesting weapon at Army. Not a great, or very good WR, but he could get up there to get the ball. He did three tours in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger, came back to the States, put on some weight, and then spent 7 seasons playing in the NFL as an offensive lineman. His younger brother, Inaki, played for the Spanish international rugby team.

There are plenty of 6+ foot guys who will still get up higher than a 7 footer in pads, when high pointing the football.

Sure, but very doubtful to be able to do that on a consistent basis in real time. A 7 ft WR would have a massive advantage on every play.

This is really why, as well as the injury part.

Wrong

On a run play, when they are blocking, they are at a massive disadvantage

They'd also be at a massive disadvantage on open field pass patterns, since they're not going to be very fast

Someone said it earlier, the test of time gave us 6'8 Harold Carmichael, and he's probably the standard tallest WR, forever

UK fans having flashbacks of the 80 billion times it was mentioned that Willie Cauley-Stein played receiver in high school.

(In related oft-repeated news, Heshimu means warrior.)

Speed and Lurch height usually don't go hand in hand.

I meant pass plays, hence the "high point" comment.

You think a coach would be sending a 7 ft wr out on fly routes?

Hard to imagine most 7 footers not being constantly injured. It would be like giraffes constantly rammed by rhinos.

40% of the responses in this thread are the epitome of why we can't talk real football on this forum

people throw out phrases like "offseason threads" versus "inseason threads", but the inseason threads are simply fantasy football nerds pretending they know shite, and they don't know shite, usually

case in point, they post sportswriter content and think that's solid content, from a sportswriter who literally never played football for 3 seconds

I guess what I'm saying is, a huge percentage of football fans are huge pussies

in this thread, they refuse to admit they'd just love to see, one time, a 7 foot guy get lobbed a pass at the goal line. they don't have any idea of how the real game is played, they just want a video game type of blood rush

the fantasy football pussies can downvote me now

The main reason is there simply aren't very many 7 footers out there. They are as tall as trees but they don't grow on them.
