They were legal until 1990, so you saw. NFL in the 70s and 80s, MLB until the late 90s.

Again, steroids are legal. They're forbidden by many sporting bodies, but steroids of any kind are legal with a prescription.

There aren't a whole lot of medicines that don't require a prescription.

Steroids, like narcotic pain killers or insulin, should only be taken by those who need them for a medical reason. Taking them for performance reasons in a sport is frankly stupid.

This is pedantic. Nobody walks around calling cocaine or fentanyl "legal."

Anabolic steroids were scheduled in 1990 and we're barred by many sporting committees before that.

If taken under supervision they are pretty safe and if it means the difference in making millions and not, the choice is not necessarily stupid.

If Caitlin Clark can use performance enhancing drugs then the OP can do roids.

Did you read the OP. This is literally what it said:

"I get that they are against the rules.

But why illegal"

The thread isn't about why they are against the rules of sports. It's about why they're against the law.

And they're no more against the law than any other prescription drug is.

As for cocaine, it is in fact illegal. You can't get a crack prescription.

Crack is not a medical form of cocaine.

But switch with morphine. Or fentanyl. Your pick. It's the same.

Illegal = a federally scheduled drug.

Wrong, it's Schedule II and used primarily in dentistry.

Schedule I drugs are illegal in that they have been determined to have no beneficial medical applications.

Basically cocaine is legal, while marijuana is illegal. lol

Same reason that stealing money from a children’s hospital is illegal.

Is this a serious comment? Huge difference between corticosteroids and anabolic steroids

You don’t know what you are talking about in the least. You cannot get a prescription for anabolic steroids in the way being described and comparing them to prednisone makes you sound foolish

Androgenic anabolic steroids are handed out like candy now.

Because testosterone range is really wide, doctors can give an ester of cypionate with very little recourse and call it "TRT"

Half the twenty year olds in any gym have been diagnosed with low T in order to get this. It's a joke now.

Androgenic anabolic steroids that you are describing are prescribed for low testosterone and aren’t the same as Anadrol or it’s synthesized variants. Will they give you some bulk? Yes, but I am assuming that the board is talking about very powerful ones that can build massive muscle mass and quick recovery

Deca/diana or tren are more popular because they don't easily raise estrogen but TRT can give you the same strength/muscle growth

come on man, you can’t be this naive. Over 90% of pro athletes are taking some kind of PED. Not knocking them, I would be too.

Because too many dumbasses would abuse them like football players and pro wrestlers did in the 80s.

No, illegal = against the law. Can't take it even with a prescription. LSD is illegal. Cocaine is Illegal. Steroids and opiates are legal, they just require a prescription. Just like insulin.

They already tried it, with disastrous results.

The same reason a lot of drugs are illegal. They hurt the user. They can kill the user.

That's not a reason for them (or drugs) to be illegal. If there's no victim, then there's no crime. Laws should only exist that are meant to protect the rights of others - not to create rules to try to prevent people from doing something dumb that doesn't hurt anyone else.
