In other news, in 2013 Notre Dame had the number 1 rush defense in the country and did not give up a rushing TD all season. That lasted about 5 minutes.

Good luck stat kings!

Dart and Daniels are significantly better than Beck and we contained them solidly. What

???? You didn’t really contain Daniels at all. I still think Bama wins if Jayden didn’t get hurt bc we weren’t going to overcome being down 2 scores. Tiger D was just too bad, but to say you contained Jayden is objectively false. Our tight end dropping a pass right in his chest with no one around him pretty much changed the trajectory of the game.

Yeah, but this is the problem with this whole stats argument. Alabama isn’t the same team as it was when it played Texas. That’s not to say they’ll beat Georgia, but they’ve improved significantly since the Texas game so it’s difficult to look at that game now as a direct indicator of how they would do against Georgia.

While true, the post I was referring to was talking about how Bama has played top offenses and top defenses.

The point I made is they haven't played a top offense who ALSO has a top defense, and the closest team they came to facing with that gave them a loss.

Stats are just stats, but there is a difference in facing a great offense with a bad defense or a great defense with a "meh" offense, and facing a team who is top 10 on both sides of the ball.

Bama hasn't faced that yet this year. Can they win against that? Sure. But the examples given don't really support that they will. The closest example they had resulted in a Bama loss.

It’ll be something close like 17-14 ish at half before we rip off 24 straight

Then you haven't seen a single Alabama game this season. If it is 17-14 at half, I really like Alabama's chances.

Now if Georgia throws a knockout blow in the first half, game is over.

Having said that, I believe this Georgia team is the best to ever play in the history of college football. Georgia can't lose.

Saban's staff is phenomenal. But so is UGA's and we have all the same as Bama 4 & 5 star depth that other teams don't.

I see a battle, both coaches making great adjustments, players stepping up. I don't think either team withers much in the 2nd half to give up 24. Knowing Saban I won't believe it's over until long past the clock hitting 0:00.

First team to 30 wins imo

Pumped up? Quite the contrary.

Well done.

I dont disagree with anything you said except. All of that is based on what you saw in early Sept. QB and OL playing on a different level now.

Bammer D is legit and Kirby has always struggled slowing down a DTQB

Both teams have improved a ton and might be the top 2 teams in the nation.

Again.

You may not think that example is predictive, but it IS the closest example (team with good offense and defense) and it DID result in a loss.

I'm fine with you saying it will be different now, but the post being responded to was trying to use examples to prove their point, and the issue is the example that exist does NOT prove that point. It suggests the opposite.

As for "Kirby struggling with slowing down a DTQB", that actually isn't the case anymore.

Since coming to UGA, our defenses have eased off on pass pressure and focused on maintaining contain when rushing the pass rusher. We don't get as many sacks as you think we would because of that, but what we haven't done most of the time is get gashed by QB runs.

This wasn't the case initially with Mel Tucker, but became the norm under Dan Lanning and Glen Schuman. Guys like Anthony Richardson and Hendon Hooker didn't run on us well.

It did kind of look like UGA was struggling with running QB's early in the season, but that appears to have been more an issue of UGA's new pass rushers not being experienced enough to maintain contain during their pass rushes and getting burned. In recent weeks that appears to not be an issue. Dart is considered one of those dual threat QB's and he had 8 carries for 20 yards. Brady Cook had one run but otherwise was held in check.

The examples of UGA giving up rushing yards to QB's are all from the first 5 games of the season. Since then, the pass rushers have been coached up enough to maintain contain. We don't get a ton of sacks because of that approach, but we also don't give up too much to running QB's.
