Joey Gatewood ran a 4.23 40.

Ealy looked electric in the AA game.
Got a good one there

He may turn out to be the 2nd coming of Cam newton, but he did not run a 4.23. Trust me on this one. Not a true 4.23.

Baylor Cupp, the A&M tight end could be a sleeper pick.

You must be new here.

For Auburn, I'm gonna go with Owen Pappoe. I expect him to be freshman AA calibur.

The football geniuses on the Rant can't determine anything in July. Doesn't mean it's not fun and it also doesn't stop anyone from trying, though.

He's starting at corner for LSU over a guy who would definitely start on almost any team in the country. Hear he looks like a complete stud that may end up being the best corner @ LSU by end of season - as a freshman.

Good call.

From the Fiesta Bowl practice:

quote:

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda laughed when asked how much he would like to have had freshman cornerback Derek Stingley for the Fiesta Bowl, especially considering how thin the Tigers are in the secondary.

“That would be a great Christmas gift right there,” he said.

Stingley, rated the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect, signed with LSU in December and graduated from The Dunham School early. He passed up a chance to play in the prestigious All-American Bowl to participate in the Tigers’ last few bowl practices before the team left to come here.

During that short time, though, Stingley made quite an impression.

He’s looks like the best guy we’ve got,” said Aranda, who said Stingley was his first early enrollee to participate in a bowl practice. “In the practices we had I think he had three picks.

“What I appreciate about Derek is his approach to it. He’s going to come in smiling, ‘Yes, sir,’ ‘No, sir.’ He’s a great story right there. Before it’s all over he’s going to be something.”

I’m going with Ika...to already be named starting NT at his size after dominating the spring game is frightening. He just stood out the whole game.

Stingley is the short answer because he's going to start right away. That doesn't necessarily make him the "best" player of the class, though -- just happens to be a very talented guy who will step into a position of need for LSU.

Nolan Smith will likely be buried on Georgia's depth chart. Same with Antonio Alfano and Trey Sanders at Alabama. Doesn't mean they aren't really really good players, though. Just means their teams are loaded at their positions.

The only other guy I know for sure is going to start right away is OL Darnell Wright at Tennessee. The guy was 247's #10 overall player and has walked directly into a starting role at UT. So he's my #2 pick after Stingley.

I do want to clarify this a little bit. Aranda did say he is the best guy we’ve got, but Greedy had already left practice at that point, and Fulton wasn’t playing because of injury. It is still insanely impressive for a freshman to come in and in his first practice stake his claim as the #3 corner especially at a school as stacked as LSU at DB.
