Who would you like to see scheduled as the first SEC game opponent for OU and Texas?

I made the trip to College Station for Texas A&M's first SEC game. For those that don't remember, it was Florida and ESPN gameday was there. The game program was pretty cool and included a summary of all the other SEC schools. Interestingly, the cover of the program did not include Johnny Manziel. I don't think even A&M realized how good his first season would be.

Who would you schedule as the first SEC game for each team?

Would it be a home game for them?

Go old school
Lead it off with Texas vs Texas A&M
OU and Missouri

Let Ark play South Carolina in a throwback game to when they were admitted

Then the real SEC can get on with it's business

it would be a win/win for all of us already in the SEC. if mizzou or a&m wins it would be an absolute embarrassment for ou and texas, but if they win it wouldn't say much about either program. if they played bama and got curbstomped they would run with the delusion that they are "warming up" and would still talk trash

SEC has to decide what scheduling model for football is going to be used. Texas and Texas A&M may NOT be annual opponents.

I am hoping the SEC goes to a 4-pod schedule which gives every team 3 permanent opponents plus 6 rotating opponents. That would allow every team to play each other at least 2 times in every 4 years. Top 2 teams by record play for the SEC title. WE have tiebreakers for SECCG placement now, so having tiebreakers would not be a problem.

A&M-t.u. in College Station is the obvious choice since it would be the marquee SEC matchup that season.

Alabama.

I remember the last time Alabama played at Oklahoma. It was in 2002 when Fran was the coach at Bama. The game was closer than a lot of people thought it would be with Bama scoring 21 unanswered points to take the lead in the second half, but ended up losing. The thing I remember the most about that game was it being mentioned by the announcers that the Oklahoma fans were amazed that the parking lots near the campus started filling up with Alabama fan RVs about a week before the game. They were use to people showing up a day early before a game, but they were quite astonished at the number of fans and how early the showed up.

Coach Fran and a sanctioned team, not a great combo

That's typical for most of the SEC teams, especially for big games. Oklahoma & Texas aren't used to this SEC fanaticism....but, they'll get used to it.

**When UGA visited Notre Dame in South Bend a few years ago, our fans began to flood the town a full week in advance. Notre Dame fans commented that they'd never seen this before and that not even Nebraska fans came that early. UGA had 40,000-50,000 fans at that game.

For SEC opponent games, usually the Wednesday or Thursday before the game one will begin to see some visiting fans show up, though.

My guess is Oklahoma will get whomever is a solid middle of the pack team that year in our division for the first game. That way we don't curb stomp someone in our debut but it doesn't burn a marquee ratings matchup for later in the season either.

Luckily, you don't have to worry about it being Kansas St or Iowa St.

Hey pal! We're trying to stay positive here. We have to fake it until we make it against those "scrappy, all heart no quit, ornery" teams in the lower half of the conference.

How about they both jump in the deep end right at the very beginning. Give them a home game to start off, but have them play all of the major powers at the beginning of the season. Have a similar schedule for Texas.

LSU at Oklahoma
Oklahoma at Alabama
Georgia at Oklahoma
Oklahoma at Florida
Texas A&M at Oklahoma
Oklahoma - Texas
Oklahoma at Arkansas
Ole Miss at Oklahoma
Oklahoma at Auburn
Mississippi State at Oklahoma

We'd lose some we were supposed to win and win some we're supposed to lose.

You remember having to play us regular schedule every year, year in and year out. It's not the same as OU playing whoever ends up winning the national championship with a month off to prepare in the playoffs. (Againt teams that no one else beat that year either.)

*Except for Georgia who had to take us to 2 overtimes but got the job done.
