Auburn is nowhere close to contention. If we turn things around it'll be at least 5-6 years from now before we're capable of winning 10 regular season games
Nah.
With the transfer portal and NIL you can rebuild quicker than that.
Plus you have some built in geographic recruiting advantages that few schools have...an hour away from metro Atlanta and located in a top 10 state for CFB talent that's growing.

And that isn't legal like you erroneously stated.
You can’t pitch a specific NIL deal to a recruit to get him to sign. You can however, show them what current players are making off of NIL if those players wish to share that information.
I think it’s also important to differentiate between “illegal”, as in against state or federal laws, and “against NCAA rules”. The varied state to state laws and NCAA regulations on NIL is a tangled mess right now.

And states have zero power to punish for NIL "violations"

Yeah, this is actually a huge advantage Miami has over UF and FSU right now. But again, the state legislature has 0 authority to actually do anything.

But the collection of member institutions, which is what the National Collegiate Athletic Association is, still forbids pay for play, for the benefit of the whole of the member institutions. If certain programs in that organization want to play by their own rules, they are certainly welcome to do that. If, however, they want to play within that organizaion, they will play be the rules and regulations that the majority of member institutions in that organization agree to.
As previously note, the major football playing programs may eventually form their own organization, but for the long term good of ALL the member institutions, they will abide by common rules and regulations. It's the only way it can work long term.
Right now it is in fact a mess, and perhaps the NCAA brass are sitting back and just watching and laughing their asses off. In due time, though, there will again be conformity, otherwise college football as we know it will not survive.
UGA would be an also ran if the few programs with the most wealthy booters could buy the best players year in year out. Texas would pretty much rule (and would dominate 8&4feit), and Ga. Tech would be in better shape than UGA.
Some of you people just don't get it.

Don't get what?
You whined for four paragraphs and
it had nothing to do with my statement.

I don’t think you appreciate Georgia’s alumni base because they aren’t vocal attention whores. I think you may be looking at UGA’s endowment and assuming it’s commiserate with their AA’s access. It’s not. UGA doesn’t need an hefty endowment. They are the flagship school in a university system than can effectively tax the state of Georgia’s substantial economic engine at will by charter. The BOR has a 2.5 billion dollar budget with the state having no material debt and a constitutional requirement for a balanced budget. Meaning if UGA pressed they could raise funds equal to GT’s endowment in 2-3 tax years. UGA has 10-15 donors whose tithe would cover an NFL salary cap.
Further, the state of Georgia has 11 Million people and it’s overwhelmingly Georgia fans, alumni or not. Georgia will be ok.

You can't use taxpayers funds for a schools current endowment and endowments are irrelevant when it comes to athletic funding.
GT's athletic dept is in horrible financial shape GT spends more on debt service than scholarships
All those big time donors from the 80's and 90's are dying off and replaced by alumni who DGAS about athletics.

Dude! If they own businesses and they want the players to support and endorse their businesses/products it is.
I would be willing to bet that there are tons of A&M graduates that own businesses in thta area. Why would it be against the rules for them to offer contracts to use the players NIL in advertising their business? It is legal as long as they don't tie those agreements to their signing with A&M.
Now, we all know that behind the scenes it is happening. But it is, or will be happening at LSU, too. I mean, aren't y'all under investigation for a booster paying past players? Please explain the difference. Let's not get overly hypocritical here. LSU boosters have been tying financial gain to signing with LSU long before it was legal.

Florida then Oklahoma. Their big-money boosters know what it takes to get it done, and they have the will to get the players and coaches they need. OU will adjust to the SEC and get it done in the next 10 yrs or so. Florida probably earlier.
Aggy? Nah. They just throw money around. Jimbo's offense flat-out stinks. I see him gone in the next 3-4 years.

Nope. aTm SHOULD be able to do it. But their best shot in years still went 8-4 and lost to a god awful LSU team.
Jimbo has already hit his ceiling, no matter how many recruits they buy.

Well Quinn and Arch should at least win one apiece, so probably us.

LSU didn't just win the game they gave Orgeron his last farewell party as well!

quote:So a backup 3* QB, true freshmen OL, and countless other positions lacking depth is the best A&M team in a decade? Not remotely realistic. Just like it isn't realistic that A&M will win the enchilada next year - too many freshmen in the two deep
But their best shot in years still went 8-4 and lost to a god awful LSU team.
Now, '23 and '24 is when the heat will turn up on Fisher.
