Why would Gatewood need a waiver if he's a grad transfer?

Gatewood was a freshman this year.

RS Freshman, but definitely not a grad.

Right. Point still stands, he's a regular transfer and not a grad transfer.

I'll nominate Tua on the 10% chance he returns.

Well, we honestly can't evaluate anyone who has yet to play in the league, so I would suggest revising your initial query to "who will be the best RETURNING QB next year?" Of the ones you put up, I would honestly put my money on Trask. He did a really solid job for the lizards this year. Mac Jones also showed he can play a little, but Nix might be a little better with more experience.
But, of course, the success of any QB is due to a lot more than his natural ability. The quality of the O-line, receivers, and scheme all play a huge role, so I would say that we need to look at some of those other factors when making a judgement about any individual QB's potential.

What was joe burrow’s last year?

I wanna argue, but that’s a good point

Exactly. People are sleeping on the Chad Morris hire.

I’m not saying future nix=19 burrow but let’s not try to say a true freshman has no chance to progress

I think it just goes to show that stats aren’t everything. Last year Burrow’s stats weren’t amazing but he had some clutch throws.
I think this year proves how much a player can improve after a year.

Brennan can make all the throws, he has better raw arm strength than Burrow, and he’s smart. His pocket presence, accuracy and leadership skills are a guess at this point.
Fromm has to improve, right? I mean he can’t get worse can he? Track has skills. Mond should have a better OL so maybe he has a comeback year of sorts? Nix should be better. Jones can definitely lead Bama and should have a more motivated supporting cast . Nix will be better with experience.
Statistically I’d put my money on Jones and Brennan.

Brennan will put up big numbers but the jury is still out on how he will play in big games. He will have a ton of talent around him including a 6'6" 250lb tight end that runs like a receiver.
