Every year in college football we hear multiple fan bases praising or hating their coach this time of year, but as we all know these opinions can change drastically in just a few months. So my question is which coaches will be getting paid after this year, and which coaches will be burning up on the hot seat? I think there is a great deal of pressure on the guys in Tennessee with Vol fans hoping Butch has a great year with the best team he has had since his time in Knoxville. Also, Vanderbilt fans would like to see if Mason can coach this season without looking lost on the sidelines. Gus and Nick both have their teams looking strong, and UGA fans will be expecting a strong year our of Richt and his phenomenal young running back. Steve Spurrier needs to have a bounce back season and Jim needs to change the atmosphere down in the swamp. The guys from Mississippi will need to prove they can continue to build their programs and Arkansas fans seem to think this year is going to be pretty special. Also, it's going to be interesting to see how Sumlin and Pinkel lead their teams this season. So give me your thoughts on who will shine and who will fade.

Botch won't be on the hot seat because they can't afford his buyout.

I'm going with Freeze, especially with all the ncaa stuff going on down there.

Sumlins days on a nice chilly seat are gonna be over soon. That bitch arse chair will melt just like the fans.

Even through all those hours spent practicing their yells... All will be fruitless.

On a side note, I really hope Bert stays around. He's making Arkansas into a powerhouse again ...with time anyway.

Sumlin won't be fired, but only because of the buyout. He may see the writing on the wall though and there may be a "mutual" parting of ways after another 7-5 or 6-6 season.

You would think a Vanderbilt fan, of all people, would know how to use paragraphs.

Hot Seat:
Miles
Sumlin
Vandy's coach

Stoops @ UK will be the next to get a contract extension if the wildcats make a bowl.

He's made a few posts that strongly suggest he isn't a student or graduate. Could be a sidewalk fan...

Alabama is giving Saban their SEC Network cut after he makes Urban quit circa 2009 style in January.

I suspect Sumlins seat will become pretty warm following the upcoming season.

Bielema and Stoops likely looking at contract extensions.

Funny you show that. Look at the 2008 versus 2009 SEC title games.

I don't know if any coach would be on the hot seat because most of them seem to have big contracts . I could see fans at Vandy and any team from the west besides BAMA starting to turn on there HC. Mostly Arkansas and LSU.

Does another leaf in the buffet table count? If so, Bert seems most likely.

At some point the kindling that's been put under Richt's seat during the last couple years will catch fire, and it'll spread fairly quickly. The question is, what is the threshold at which the match is lit? Will UGA fans and admin continue accepting decent seasons with no huge payoff? Could make for an interesting situation the next couple years. The exact same paragraph could be used in reference to Miles at LSU, although I think another disappointing season begins the kindling under the seat (i.e. a year or two behind UGA).

If the Aggies should have another middle of the pack season, Sumlin's seat will heat up but he'll get a least another year. A collapse of epic proportions and he could be gone, but it would have to be a BIG collapse.

This will be a year that tells us a lot about Jones, Bielema, and Stoops. None have to be extremely successful, just as long as their teams show progress instead of regress. It's a good thing Tennessee's fans aren't running the show over there, I'm thinking that they've set themselves up for a bit of a letdown during this preseason, and Butch would be their scapegoat.
