OK, so I realize Alabama has been fine with first year starting quarterbacks, and I expect that to hold true in 2016 (although I wouldn't just flat out guarantee an SEC and Playoff National Championship. I'm trying to see who Alabama fans think will start as it appears to be a wide open competition like Auburn.

From what I gather...

Cooper Bateman: Athletic guy, played a little bit of wide receiver at Alabama, but seems like a game manager. Doesn't really take many shots deep and makes the safer, underneath throws. He's been around the system longer than anyone else.

David Cornwell: Big guy, and athletic for his size. Also seems to have a big arm and is able to stretch the field. However, he remains inconsistent at times.

Blake Barnett: Same holds true for this guy as the other two; athletic. However, he's skinny as a rail and young. He's supposedly been a turnover machine in practice (I read he has 6 turnovers in 2 scrimmages). He was a 5* out of high-school and many expected him to take over for Jacob Coker.

Jalen Hurts: ?

Does it really matter. We can win the NC with just about anyone we put back there if they do what they are told to do.

I hear Jeremy Johnson is working hard to get that sociology degree by May so he can transfer to Bama and start next year. Kiffin will develop his potential.

This is true for many teams.

Thing is, saban and company always seem to find the guy that will actually do it (and usually improve a ton as well)

If history is any indicator it will be Bateman. Not who many want but we don't get paid the big bucks for a reason.

You pretty much nailed it.

I think it's too much of a toss up right now to even make a prediction.

As far as Jalen Hurts, I've heard nothing but great things about him so far. No one is expecting him to start for obvious reasons, but they are saying that he has a great arm and can scoot.

Saban will pick a guy for QB in August.

A couple may play the first few weeks.

Kiffin likes the deep ball. I wonder if that holds Bateman back. My money is still on him as an accurate short to mid-range passer who is just athletic enough to be a problem

Bateman is more than just a bit athletic.

Bateman. He'll put up good numbers too. Athletic for a white boy. I like the true freshman Hurts a lot. His dad is a coach and he has looked good so far.

he can make throws and can move. But again, this is spring. Football is played in the fall.
