Lots of bunched up hog panties up in here. Ha. They had nothing to look forward going into the year other than their self proclaimed top 2 in conf. Facepalm. Ha.

If Anderson doesn't make the tournament there is no way that you keep him around with only 2 NCAA appearances at the end of year 7. Could get interesting

Arkansas has only won SEC regular season twice and SEC tournament once.
There doesn't look like much tradition there.
According to this list, Arkansas averaged 15,247 a game in a season. Better than most schools but not 20,000 a game.

Arky has been down the last 20 years, but even with that being said, they still have a fine tradition with a NC under their belt. 15k attendance most schools would covet and want to maintain. Arky is a very desirable destination with a huge upside for recruits and potential head coach. Basketball, unlike football, is a lot easier to turn around and return to excellence, something Arky knows all about. Mike isn't the answer though.

much of Arkansas's success happened when it was part of the old southwest conference.
Outside of some teams in the early 90s, I don't recall them doing much. I agree it is a decent job but at this point I would say it is pretty even with the other programs in SEc, outside of Kentucky and Florida.
To me, the best location within SEC for basketball is really Columbia because closer to the northeast recruits.

VOLS are headed for a one seed while Arkansas is hoping to host an NIT game.
Sad!

I believe Arky went to back to back NC games and won 1 while a member of the SEC.

yes but those were good teams. We are talking about the program's success over time and the modern era.
The SEC used to have divisions in basketball which made it easier to get to SEC title game than now.

Wasn't Hugh Freeze a renowned high school basketball coach in Arkansas?

And I've agreed that haven't done much in the last 20 years. My point is they can still return to their glory years with the right coach. Are they blueblood? No, but they have a very solid tradition with great fan support. Something that the right coach could easily build on.

ok,
I can't see Mike Anderson being fired this year. The team is doing ok and will probably have 20 plus wins. It was 25-10 last year.
He made it to 2nd round of NCAA two out of the past 3 years. They lost to UNC both times, which can't be described as bad losses. lol
If I'm Arky or really any program that doesn't get recruits like Duke, I'm happy making the tournament 2 or 3 out of 4 years.

Would any other SEC program be content with Anderson's record?
More specifically, any program that actually cares about Basketball?

And yet, we've still been good enough to have a 2-1 lead over Clemson.

May as well offer Corliss the job.
