I thought Saban sold (or is in the process) his home on Lake Burton.

Cool down, people! Jeesus. No wonder the rest of the rant targets you people day in and day out.

Actually, I started this thread for real discussion, because anything can happen in college sports. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that Saban could be lured somewhere else. Unlikelier things have happened.

This is a simple discussion that if...IF...it were to occur, who would replace the old man.

How bout this...I'll word it differently to unrustle your jimmies:

When Satan retires, who will replace him and continue the championship dynasty? Answer the fricking question.

Yeah Texas has unlimited resources but they wont use all of them. I believe the $10 million a year coach will be here eventually but even if it was now. Bama boosters would find that kind of money to keep the most valuable asset around and see his job to the rocking chair.

You're about half right. He is in the process of selling an investment property on Lake Burton. The home HE lives in as a vacation home is not on the market.

Beer,

That's not what I was getting at. The point I was trying to make about Spur and Snyd are that some coaches choose to coach for life.

If Saban were to go this route, he'd actually have many more seasons left to coach (assuming he doesn't unexpectedly croak sometime soon) which means he may consider a massive contract at a legendary school like Texas.

the problem is this topic has been discussed TO DEATH. A better question would be like

quote:

What does Dabo realistically have to do to be a target for Bama when Saban leaves

or
quote:

If Kirby left and had success at another SEC school could Bama reel him back as an HC?)]

or

quote:

If Saban retired today, could Bama get C. Strong, Franklin or Harbaugh?

also

Any mentioning of Southern Cal or Texas INSTANTLY makes your thread flame bait.

Well that's retarded because Texas is a genuine threat to any school. If they want your head coach, they'll take him unless said coach is incredibly loyal to your school.

Money talks.

There is no reason why Texas should rustle as many jimmies as she does.

To be honest...y'all rustle your own jimmies.

If you think that UT will outbid Bama for anyone you don't understand the Horn big boy network. They could give a shite about titles as long as they can rig the rules so the other conference members are their bitches and they continue to rake in the dough.

For UT, $$$$$$>>>>>titles

Whereas, the Bama big boys would literally repossess every leg brace and wheelchair from crippled kids in Alabama and melt them down into blocking sleds if it meant a national championship.

Completely different mentalities.

Texas cares about money and titles.

Really? With one title in 40+ years? With their recruiting base and resources? shite, if the REC were in the Lone Star State the crystal trophy would have horns on it by now.

I'm not saying they wouldn't want a title if it fell in their lap <cough>Vince Young<cough>, but if they can have a yes man as HC and still rake in the dough titles are a secondary concern.

Short List:

Lavell Edwards - put up 600 yards on a strong Texas team
Mike Price - had recent penile implant / testosterone replacement therapy and is ready to "coach" again

The truth is BAMA reciepts from the last few years have advanced genetic research at the University on Alabama. They are going to let go of original Saban and hold on to the new and improved cloned Saban minus the character flaws. Rumor has it that it will be conservative and like NASCAR. During meltdowns he will have an audible beeping instrument implanted that alerts all surrounding him to stay away (think Jackie Gleason in Smokey and the bandit)

This is beneath you killz, but this has been my official stance on the subject:

REC hires armed thugs to visit the knees of Colin Kaepernick, Patrick Willis, Vernon Davis, Aldon Smith, Navaro Bowman and Michael Crabtree. Marcus Lattimore is spared out of respect.

Alabama then throws like a gabillion dollars at Harbaugh.

Once again, you're pissed because no one will take you seriously after you've built a reputation as a troll. Yeah, MY jimmies are rustled.
