I think they may have to go a little cheap on the next hire and look to the Sunbelt like Florida. Or possibly the Southland like Washington State if they're really broke after this. A few candidates in Louisiana:

1. Michael Desormeaux UL-Maybe too unproven for Aggie.
2. Tim Rebowe- Nicholls State

Anyone I'm missing?

App State Coach makes only $425000 so maybe could get him on the cheap. Hell they could get the whole ASU staff for under a mill.

I know their offense sucked arse, but TAMU's DL was getting like zero push in the 2nd half.

TAMU with one sack compared to at least 31 drop backs for the App State QB is pitiful.

Good one.

You lost in year 5 of Jimbo to Appalachian State. (Better one)

I know I said this on another jimbo buyout thread but I’ll say it again. TAM really should consider a contract with performance penalties and with large payouts only for specific successes.

Ya I know people will say “try getting a coach to agree to that contract”, “what about recruiting” etc. But if they really have to payout like 90 mil why not try something different? As someone said, hire the App State guy on the cheap, give him really good rewards and really stiff penalties and see what happens, will it really be any different than things are now?

Seriously, who would take the job? Crazy expectations and it is the 4th best option for Texas recruits. Zero football history and weird AF traditions.

Coaching sucks and on top of that Aggies thought they could just show up and stand on the field and win. Little effort. They'll give up on Jimbo in no time.

Somebody forgot to tell App State they were supposed to get their arse kicked. App State is America's team.

Mark Hudspeth. $$$ to players isn't a concern anymore, and Aggie probably doesn't care if he sleeps around a little.

He's coaching HS now in Alabama. Could get at a bargain price

That's why I'm thinking they may need to go the Florida route.

They should look at Rhett Lashley from SMU.

Young, seems to know what he's doing. Will probably be affordable.

no coach would ever sign such a contract

This is very, very different from Saban losing to ULM in year 1.

Very troubling. It really makes you call into question his entire coaching resume, given how he left FSU in shambles. Maybe Urban-esque in a way.

Is he a complete fraud? He babbles/rambles/talks fast like a fraud.

Anyone they want. A&M and Texas have a different level of money.

There's LSU/Bama rich, then there's Texas rich.

I don't like it but it is what it is.
