Mullen was like the opposite of Kiffin. Dude went after every opening in the SEC, ACC, and Big 10. Turned down by Miami, Penn State, Maryland, and UConn of all places before Tennessee was gonna hire him. Then UF swooped in at the last second.

Ole Miss is currently the better program but what you are failing to realize is that each programs potential is much different. Ole Miss is currently at their peak. Florida is at their bottom. Florida has the potential to be a program that wins National Championships. Ole Miss has the potential to be a playoff team now that it's 12 teams but can't win Nattys. The goal is to win ships. Ole Miss hasn't and wont do that.

We've completed Week 3 in the first season of the 12 team CFP.
We have no idea what Ole Miss's potential is under the new set up.
Right now Florida doesn't have a permanent President and had a dog shite AD. Florida might have the potential for making a 12 team CFP and get a title but they are further away than just a HC for that to happen.

Ole Miss has never won anything. Florida has. Florida has a much better recruiting base. They are struggling bad currently but all it would take is a few good hires and they are back in business. And I hate Florida. Can't stand them. But facts are facts. Ole Miss historically has won nothing that matters. Never even been to an SEC championship game.

While Tennessee is a bigger program than State, Tenn was a dumpster fire of a program at that time, and I thought no way would Mullen leave State for them. We had a 10+ win season upcoming for MSU. Yet with all that Mullen was still about to go to Tenn before UF called.
Kind of like OM and Florida now.

2024 - Some Ole Miss fans - "Kiffin will never leave OM for Florida, downgraded job at inferior level." Most acknowledge that it is possible, although unlikely, IMO.
Very similar although there are only a few Ole Miss fans denying that could ever happen. It's early in the season, Kiffin and Ole Miss have a lot to play for, too early for this talk. I am pulling for them to win the SEC and a Natty!
Then we can argue over coaches.

Not for me, I support hiring Kerwin Bell HC Shane Matthews OC, Mike Peterson DC. Former Gators that care about UF.
But don't believe for a minute that the money isn't there and that it won't be offered to Kiffin when the time comes.

How many 10 win seasons has Florida had in the last 10 yrs, 3? How many has ole miss had in the last 10 yrs, 3. With a good possibility ole miss will have another 10+ win season this year. Welcome to the dumpster fire of a program level. Hope you enjoy the ride!
