Stalin was Time Magazine's Man of the Year the same year he invaded Poland and Finland and just a year removed from finishing up his purges against the military establishment.

I'm really starting to appreciate these, Sidewalk, for the historic parallels.

You can win man of the year now for just winning the election? This is basically “liberal man of the year”

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it has to do with influence on world events - them getting elected to President and VP of the US in a pandemic world is pretty influential.

Stalin, for example, was because he was influential. It doesn't focus on the "good" or "bad" of the influence, just the amount.
