OP asked a stupid question. Clemson is king of the hill in the ACC. There's not even a close second. They don't want to go anywhere.

Oklahoma is also king of the football hill, but one of the mediocre teams in the conference steals their money, dunks their head in the toilet daily, and makes them call him Daddy. Their fans are content to be bullied by Texas, but anyone in their administration with half a brain knows they belong somewhere else.

Norman isn't a podunk town, either. About the size of Tuscaloosa or Athens, except Norman doesn't allow black people to live there. So, I guess it's really more like Auburn, only twice the size.

Texas "steals our money" and "dunks our heads in the toilet"? What?

You gave longer, better rounded responses earlier in this thread that explained some things in a way I hadn't thought of before, I'd hoped you'd do that again. I'm not from SC and I don't live there now so I don't interact with Clemson fans often to hear their perspective on things.

We have the best of both worlds...We schedule 2 SEC schools each year (unless we have Notre Dame in the rotation) plus the ACC schedule. We don't have to be in the SEC to enjoy some of the fruits of the SEC.

AS far as competition, our FPI is ranked 3rd in the country....How much harder does it need to be to satisfy people like you?

Most of the ACC schools are good games..I doesn't matter the sales job you are pitching...

I admit I like SEC football, however bringing in Clemson wouldn’t be good for the SEC. Adding Clemson will only add to your conference eating their own during the regular season. Bad enough with Bama, AU, LSU, UGa etc. Do you really want Clemson added to the mix?

If their both smart, they'll remain on the periphery of the SEC. OU would be upper middle tier right now. Clemson might be one of the top teams but they get a lot of current benefit from playing in the ACC.

but what can the SEC offer that Clemson already doesn't have?

An interesting conference schedule, a huge pay raise, and more media coverage. And that's just the tip of it.

Half the teams on your list fired their coach.

...and they're better for it, and it proves that they're better. Of the teams you all played:

Boston College: Steve Addazio, went 3-9 his third year and is 31-32 overall, would have been fired a long time ago in the SEC

Syracuse: Dino Babers, two 4-8 seasons in a row, would have been fired in the SEC

Wake: Dave Clawson, two 3-9 seasons and two 7 win seasons, would have been fired in the SEC

GT: 3-9 and 5-6 campaigns within the last three years and no conf title in last ~10. Would have been fired in the SEC.

When it comes to football the ACC is a conference of Vanderbilt and Mississippi State level programs, but with less revenue, name recognition, and television exposure. SEC coaching changes are covered intensely while most of the CFB watching populace would be hard pressed to name more than 2 ACC coaches let alone correctly place each university in the correct division. Clemson and Florida State have known this for a while and it's why they lobbied for VT and Miami to join. Let's not forget that other schools have been looking, and have left, the ACC with little-to-no notice in the past and the conference is the only P5 conf other than the Big XII to have been raided...thus the conf's new $50m exit fee.

Bring in Clemson and maybe Va. Tech in the East and move somebody like Missouri to the West.

Should help balance the conferences a bit - both quality-wise and geographically.

Next realignment could occur between 2023-2024. Big XII GoR expires in '24. We might see a change to the playoff picture around that time too as the last realignment paved the way for the current setup.

1. You're posting on SECRant. We could have this discussion on ACCRant except that it doesn't exist. That says something. Your presence here says something.

2. I'm talking about the expectations and standards in the SEC, not Carolina in particular.

You might be right.

But I would hate it. It is crazy that teams in the same conference get to play each other so rarely.

What are we on right now, almost a decade between home and home for some SEC West v SEC East teams?

More teams will just make it worse.

Your favorite ranter's favorite ranter

Ever think that's why the SEC is down and will remain down until AD's and fans learn patience? Saben has destroyed programs from within b/c of unrealistic expectations.
