Yep..South Carolina is really tearing the SEC up...You got me....It seems the only teams wanting in the SEC is Big 12 teams...

Again, what would being in the SEC do for Clemson that it isn't receiving in the ACC?

Carolina was an independent at the time, which made it a much easier switch. Not sure what it would've taken for Clemson to get out of the ACC, but it had to be a more complicated situation.

The SEC has become very weak the last 2 or 3 years when Ga. can win it!

I've never heard any Clemson fans say they would rather be in the SEC. It is what it is. Life is good.

Then you must be a kid.

Just a few years ago there were regular threads on taternet with taterheads fans railing on their wishes to be in the SEC.

Right now, given clemzin's current success, everyone is content with the easy path of a schedule.

What Clemzin doesn't have to contend with, and I've read this entire thread and it has yet to be mentioned .... are SEC crowds in SEC stadiums.

There are very few off weeks in the SEC. You can never let your guard down, especially on the road.

With the exception of Clemzin's stadium; There is not another single stadium in the ACC, in terms of roudiness and size/attendance, that compares favorably to SEC stadiums and that includes Doak Campbell ... FSU fans are shite with the exception of one or two games a year vs big rivals.

Do a head-to-head comparison of crowds and atmosphere and stadiums, ACC vs SEC, and it's no comparison. SEC wins top to bottom.

THAT'S the biggest difference between the ACC and SEC year in and year out.

Then there are the yearly bowl records ... which, again, the SEC historically dominates against higher-seeded competition.

Most telling this preseason was, after having one good year last season, the ACC Media Days talking points false narrative spewed by ACC coaches and ADs claiming the ACC to now be the finest football conference in the land. It was the most little brother thing the ACC could have done.

The Big 12 has been in a really dodgy situation ever since it had Mizzou, aTm leave. Of course Nebraska and Colorado jumping ship was the beginning of the decline of the Big 12.

Then there was the song and dance they played few years ago with essentially interviewing schools for expansion only to being a tease.

The person that made the comment about the B12's GOR is spot on...You will see a circus if the league is still viable.

When the ACC poached the Big East and put that league out of it's misery was really when any thoughts of Clemson or FSU ever realistically looking for a better deal. The League was solidified at 14 and although I hate Notre Deal, the deal we struck with them and the money they generate was a win-win for both.

Also, we have an "ACC Network" that will launch in 2019 that should really help in the pocket book for some of the smaller ACC schools....Not only will our football product benefit, but Baseball, basketball and if we can add Notre Dame's Football Library to that we will be taking in all the revenue needed to maintain a successful program as long as you have the right coaching staff

Look who's back. Still living in the past.

A few years ago, the rumor was FSU and Clemson to the B12. It looked like the imminent collapse of the ACC. Since then, though, it's been a pretty good conference. Two titles, two Heisman's, playoffs every year, ND joining (except football), facility improvements all over the conference. Clemson finally added softball. It appears the ACC is doing pretty well.

Seriously though, do you not see the oncoming collapse of this ESPN money train? What do you think is going to happen then? We'll still have our decades-old rivalries, we'll have championships in the trophy case, and everything will keep chugging along. At this point, Clemson is sustainable.

The fact that ACC suffered at the hands of the SEC in bowls 25 years ago isn't going to make one bit of difference to anyone in Clemson. It's just curious that the SEC guy continuously points to the money, but how much success has it brought USCe? A WBB title? That's cool, I guess.

Most OU fans would like to be in the SEC for the following reasons:

* geographic reasons
* strong financially
* strong programs
* closer than PAC or B1G
* similar culturally

However, ya'll have Texas A&M and their delusional fans to deal with, so we feel kinda lucky to be in the Big 12.

Sheesh ... trying to have a conversation with you is like talking to a farleftwingliberalnutjob. You just keep-on spouting your taterhead talking points and believing your own bullshite regardless of the reality.

We're not talking any one single program in this thread ... or, at least, that is what this thread has evolved in-to.

I gave Clemzin props for having an SEC atmosphere, level of talent and fanbase. Financially Clemzin is also doing very well. FSU is next level in the ACC in terms of facilities and fan support. After that the ACC falls off a cliff.

In the SEC everyone fills stadiums, has money, is constantly upgrading facilities in an effort to keep-up with the arms race.

With regard to the past 25 years of bowl records ... it's not even close. The SEC regularly plays teams ranked higher, or finished higher in their conference standing ... and the SEC still wins at a higher level, post season, than any other conference ... historically - over the past 25 years.

So please, stop playing word games ... it makes you appear to be the ignorant, uninformed, living vicariously through your sheep-humping program that you probably are slick.

I'll type this again and go slow for your benefit.

Clemzin should be happy to stay in the ACC.

The ESPN money thing?

If ESPN fails to honor their contract then Disney has to pay-up. And past that the SEC will always have a strong presence and product on whatever network bids for their primetime games ... and the SEC will run it's own network once the current contract expires between ESPN and the SEC Network. That's the model for all the conferences in the future and ESPN knows it ... they're basically training conferences to do it now by requiring conferences and programs to produce their own inventory for broadcast. Hell, even talent is being pulled from local pools and via private contracts these days, so the process is already well underway.

Streaming is next. By the time the current contracts expire everyone will be live-streaming and inventorying everything on the cloud.

You should have stayed in the retirement home playing Scrabble and sipping hot chocolate. Your posts are even worse now than they were before your well-earned hiatus. I believe every Clemson fan here has stated that we're happy in the ACC and there would be no benefit to leaving, so I'm not sure why you think otherwise.

I find it amusing that you think Clemson couldn't withstand a full-SEC schedule, even with all of those periods thrown in. USCe on the road was one of the easiest wins on Clemson's schedule, and y'all are the SEC East #2 team. The East is the worst division in football. Again. This isn't 2010. Top to bottom, it ain't that tough on your (East) side. USCe went 8-4. Tells you all you need to know about the SEC East.

This is just a Gamecock fan baiting you. If they thought they could have the success Clemson is having in football by returning to the ACC they would do in in a heartbeat...They should have never left.

I have a ton of respect for the SEC and enjoy competing with them. That doesn't mean I want to live with them!..LOL

I will say this...I am a fan of Southern Domination in College Football. If it pisses of the Northern, Central and West Coast College Programs that Football in the South is King I am fine.

Like it or not, the SEC and ACC are Cousins..
