Dabo will take the Alabama job after Saban leaves if the powers at Alabama want him to be the coach. That be the only job he would leave Clemson for more than likely though

Without looking it up, can you name a single player on his Grand Valley State teams or any of the teams he beat to win those "championships"? Any coach he went up against? FFS we are not even talking about FCS. Division 2 programs have 36 scholarships a year.

Curt Anes

In 2002, they beat Valdosta State.

Chris Hatcher was the coach for Valdosta State. Chuck Martin, now the head coach at Miami of Ohio, was an assistant for GVSU.

OK. Had to look him up and was hard to find much. I'm sure for a division 2 guy he is very accomplished but not sure that having a guy that was invited to a Lions preseason camp for 2 seasons puts a division II championship on par with a FBS championship.

The unanswered question about Smart is, can he sustain running a program at a championship level now that he's won one? Many coaches have climbed that mountain, but few have demonstrated the ability to stay there.

Very true, but I feel like he has the best chance since he's seen it done in person.

Perhaps, but he's burned some bridges.

GVSU also had a WR named Kircus who got some NFL time. VSU just couldn't stop him.

Obviously not Brian Kelly. He is 60 years old and has maybe 6 or 7 years left to coach. He is in the same conference as Saban and Smart. I know LSU has a history of making mediocre coaches into champions (Orgeron and Miles), but this feels like a mistake. Kelly just doesn't fit. Feels like Gerry DiNardo 2.0.

Look, I have no idea how BK will do. Maybe he will win 1. Maybe he will win 2 or 3. Maybe he will win none.

But your post reads like someone scared of him and like you are trying to justify in your own mind why he will fail.

Not sure why Kelly is even in the discussion until he gets 1.

Because he coaches a Championship level program where two straight less than elite coaches have won one.

You didn’t specify. You said national championships and now are changing the rules because you didn’t do your homework

So based upon your post Kelly’s 2 titles are well within your original statement

Good question. It’s so hard to do, gotta think Dabo only because he’s already won 2

Well, as of right now, Kirby and Jimbo are retiring with the same amount of Natty's as Ed Orgeron.

I see Kirby having a better shot at surpassing Orgeron than Jimbo does.

But that's no gaurantee. Hell, Kirby may never even make it back to the Title game. Jimbo never has. s

It takes a lot of things beyond your control to become a NC.

Unless you are Saban.

Honestly probably some ties at two. Kelly has the highest ceiling but doesn't have as much time to achieve it.
