Just 11 months ago, A&M had a first year coach and arkansas was coming off a top 5 season and a cotton bowl blasting of K-State. Who would've thought they could be 3rd in the West in 2012?
The people who think the top 3 teams in the West are set for the next few years aren't paying attention to history... hell, three different teams have won the west in the last three years... Auburn and Arkansas finished 1 and 2 in the west two years ago and now they won't be able to crack the top 3 in the forseeable future?
This is college football... things change on a yearly basis... granted, Bama-LSU-A&M look to be very good in 2013 and beyond, but I'd be shocked if no other team can crack that group in the next few years.
This is probably the best post in this thread.

We dont know how Gus Bus or BB will be.
Beilima's the safe bet, though.... proven winner at the BCS level... and he's putting together a solid staff. The only real thing that makes me question his coaching abilities are the fact that his background is in defense, but Wisconsin's defenses have been mediocre the last couple years.... and from the outside looking in, their offense was better when Chryst was in Madison. Chryst leaves and they go from an 11-win team to a 7-win team.
Chainey is a good OC, so it may not be anything.

We definitely wont be running the exact same style of offense that Wisconsin was running. Bielema has said that numerous times since he got here. He recently said that he wants the offense to be a mixture of the Wisconsin offense, the Tennessee offense and some things that we have been doing at Arkansas under Petrino.
I've conversed with some Wisconsin fans since the hiring and they said that there had been rumblings in recent years that Bielema was unhappy with having to run the offense the "Wisconsin way" and that he thought it was holding them back to a point.

Fill the tub full of water and throw in a hair dryer then.
One season does not make change(Auburn-2010)the Bama/LSU machine will remain the constant.
Unseating A&M for third will be (back) for Auburn or Arkansas.

I'll go with Arky. Auburn is a pile of crap and UT is slightly better.

Arkansas. UT and AU have quite the row to hoe. Arkansas has hired a proven BCS coach and is actually putting together a stud coaching staff. With that and the facility upgrades, the sky is the limit for Arky.

Auburn took a risk on a coach with only one year of HC experience. Malzhan has a huge task ahead of him. He's basically got to change the attitude and mentality of his players first, change the culture of the program. He's got to start over from the ground up with fundamental training and discipline. Gus has his hands full.

I know its the big ten, but they've been pretty solid.
"In 2012, Wisconsin led the Big Ten and ranked third in the NCAA with a three-and-out percentage of 41.72, and the Badgers' 5.23 three and outs per game topped the Big Ten and was fourth in the country. The Badgers' defense was 13th in the NCAA in total defense in addition to being third in the conference in sacks and ranked 21st in the NCAA in rush defense and pass efficiency defense and 23rd in the country in pass defense."
"In 2011, the Badgers ranked 13th in the country in scoring defense, allowing an average of 19.0 points per game, and 15th in the nation in total defense. It was the first time since 2006 that Wisconsin had allowed fewer than 20 points per game. Ten of the Badgers' 14 opponents failed to score more than 17 points. Wisconsin allowed just 163.6 yards per game through the air in 2011, the second-best mark by a Wisconsin defense in 20 years, to rank fourth in the NCAA in pass defense."

I feel like Gus has the most upside, but Bielema is the best hire of the 3.

I've seen trending used in this thread by a particular fan base in this thread and here's how I see it.
UT has the easiest road because the East is a bit softer than the West right now.
West:
Bama/LSU/MSU - flat trends
OM/aTm - trending up
Arky/AU - no trend because of new coaches
East:
UG/USC - flat with USC having the opportunity to go down
UF/Vandy - up
UK/UT - no trend
Mizz - down
It's going to be difficult for Arky to get higher than 3rd. It'll be a bit easier for UT to get to third. They just have to pass Vandy and USC. Arky has to pass aTm who is on the upswing.
UT has always recruited better than Arky and that should make it easier for them to get it going again.

I'd be surprised if Tennessee is good anytime soon. Tennessee needs major institutional changes before it can hire a quality coach.
