Always Keith Jackson. But in current times? Brad Nessler is pretty decent.

Gary in his day did well with his QB talk but he over-did the other analysis unfortunately. Now everyone finds him annoying.

Fowler I though did ok early on until he got weird with the Fowler growl. Tessitore could have been good but really fell in love with his shouting. Someone at ESPN probably encouraged that shite.

His crying partner could have been good but he turned fig.

I kind of like Andre Ware even though they've stuck him on shitty games.

The got gets most of the player's names wrong or at least he does for LSU. Maybe that's on purpose.

1. pre-2000s Brent Musberger (younger fans probably wouldn't get it)
2. Keith Jackson
2. Ron Franklin
4. Sean McDonough (extremely underrated)
5. Chris Fowler
6. Brad

Pretty good list, and I agree with the McDonough comment. Ron Franklin and the old school ESPN College Football theme music was fantastic too.

Of the ones that are currently active, Fowler and Herbstreit are my personal favorites.

Most of the present day sports announcers/color analyst either talk too much or make glaring mistakes. I have to go old school with some of these. For announcers .. 1 - Keith Jackson 2 - Chris Schenkel 3 - Sean McDonough.

Analyst .. from years ago ..1 - Bud Wilkinson 2 - Ara Parseghian 3 - Mike Gottfried.. presently 4 - Todd Blackledge 5 - Matt Stinchcomb .. Stinch should replace Herbstreit on the marquee games.

There will never be another. I hardly have the sound on listening to the current ones. If there is a "favorite" of today's crop, it would probably be Todd Blackledge (I hold my nose as I type this). Plus, the way they do the broadcasts since the empty covid stadiums, the crowd noise makes hearing and understanding the announcers all but impossible.

frick PAC 10 Jackson.

He came out of retirement just so his last called game wasn't the UT NC.

He HATED all SEC teams except Alabama.

Caywood Ledford (last of the radio guys so set a picture in words)

Keith Jackson (If you never heard him, he is the voice of CFB)

Uncle Verne (say what you will but he had a great voice)

As to current maybe Manning (I really want a fatguy guy like Madden but doubt that happens)

Vin Scully will be a loss for broadcast sports as that guy turned games into Homer like poetry.

People complain about the way he talks about bama but that man gives more football insight in a game than most announcers do in a season.
Gary is really good right up until the point he wears a topic out and then proceeds to beat it to death. Usually the topic is only football adjacent and he just comes off as a being a fan boy. It distracts from the game.

Chris Fowler's voice has been synonymous with our latest championship runs, so I'm partial to him lately.

I like Blackledge, too.

Verne will forever be my favorite.

The best duo I can remember was Nessler/Blackledge when they were together. Currently I think Fowler/Herbstreit are far and away #1 despite ESPN/ABC’s lackluster production imo
