So with all the Misery fans trying to say they are southern their mascot is derived from Yankee scum.

So Mizzou would win, except their namesake unit was on the union side of the conflict.

So you don't know history huh. The Tigers Militia in Columbia was made to protect the area from Confederate Bushwackers AND Union Jayhawkers from Kansas.

they were named the fighting tigers because of how they fought.
Still not the beginning.

The official date of organization for the Washington Artillery of New Orleans is September 7, 1838. This is only because that year is the earliest documented date associated with the unit that the United States War Department would concede when it accepted the Washington Artillery into the National Guard in 1909. But research now clearly proves that an organization of this name existed prior to 1838 (at least 1819).

This is wrong… LSU original colors were blue and white, yes the current colors are from Carnival, but it was because fans wanted to wear ribbons to represent the team for a baseball game against Tulane. Only ribbons available in any quantity were purple green and gold. Could wear green due to Tulanes colors, thus the purple and gold.

From what I’ve been taught, LSU’s first football coach, Charles Coates, along with some of his players, went out to find ribbons to dress up their 1893 fall football game against a team made up of players from New Orleans. At the time, no one knew of any official LSU team colors. They found a large supply of purple and gold (old gold) ribbons at a local store and bought them all. The store’s green ribbons had not yet arrived, which left purple and gold to become LSU’s colors.

You're probably thinking of the Louisiana Zouaves of Wheat's and Coppen's battalions. While their uniforms were inspired by the French Zouaves of the Algerian War, they were not purple and gold.

There were even Zouaves in the Union Army:

But by the end of 1862, most on both sides had reverted to the standard uniforms of their respective armies.

No one wins. There are no tigers roaming in North or South America.

They are all in Asia and Russia. All yall Tigers should change your names to an animal that actually exists in your state.

Much respect to Arkansas and Texas. Their mascots make sense. And Florida too, obviously.

No one else is called the crimson tide. There is a reason for that. Because it is about the dumbest name in college football.
