Lock looked solid when he had a good receiver in Courtland Sutton to throw to. Jeudy sits there jumping up and down, chopping his feet in 15 different directions and has maybe moved 2 yards on his route. But thats the level of coaching you get coming from Alabama. There are pass rushers in the NFL Mr.Jeudy.

So obsessed with Bama that you do (biased) analysis of Bama players in the NFL. Love it!

McCarron is still in the league after 8 seasons and married to an absolute babe. Not sure what your point is.

Wilson, I just hated to hear that Santa Claus skipped your house the other night and did not bring you your Trevor Lawrence jersey because you were up late thinking about Bama! You know he won’t come if Little Wilson is wide awake (thinking about Bama)!

He was.

He has borderline talent to be a full time starter, but timing and circumstance affects that to a large degree.

I thought he had a chance at Buffalo. I really thought he had the experience and ability to win that job.

But, getting gigs that pay 4 million a year to hold a clipboard aren't bad either.

He played at a time when Saban was still wanting to be conservative on offense but it seemed like every time they gave him some rope he processed well and stepped up to make confident throws on early downs. 1/9 being a good example. It’s not even that he lit the world on fire per se, he just effectively executed the offense and did everything that was ever asked of him.

I guess he doesn’t get much run bc those teams were more defined by defense, but to me he was one of the better college QBs of the late 00’s/early 10’s

Agree 100%. If he played in the Kiffin or later offenses, we'd have a very different view of him and he'd likely have a Heisman trophy. He was/is absolutely capable of playing at a high level.

When he left UA, he was pretty well regarded as among the very best QBs to have played at Bama by fans.

Pre-Tua the list of Alabama QBs was pretty much game manager after game manager from Pat Trammell to Jay Barker to Greg McElroy so I think people were conditioned to think of the Bama QBs as average players who didn’t make mistakes.

Not that I was alive then but even reading books it sounded like Bear kept Stabler and Namath in check so their talent didn’t shine until the NFL. So I think for most people who didn’t pay close attention and just read the box score at times he seemed like another in a long line of those type guys.

Is what it is but hopefully history will be more kind to his tenure. We definitely beat Alabama in 2012 without AJ and even as smothered as we were 1/9 if you take him out of that game we’re a TM7 strip and and score or punt return to the house away that day too. Which he did in literally every single game that year except the 2 against Bama.

absolutely he did with a couple of Super Bowl rings and ~13 yrs in the league. Again, not a bad job if you can get it.

The Detmer Brothers are the ones who always stand out to me as the iconic career backups, although Ty got some really opportunities to play. I recall one story when both were with the Eagles and the Eagles asked Koy to fake an injury so they could carry him forward out of camp on IR vs cutting him.

He was definitely the first QB that Saban had at Alabama that he trusted him to win the game with his arm. 36-4 as a starter, 2 time National Champion, set numerous school records. Obviously many of those have since been broken themselves, but he was still mostly in a run first, more pro style offense than the spread/RPO offense Alabama has run the last few seasons.

And to think he's only eligible for the COllege Football Hall of Fame because the AFCA named him 1st team All American as a senior.

Tua has thrown 10 tds and only 2 interceptions for a passer rating of 93.2 which is better than Burrow who has thrown 13 tds and 5 interceptions for a 89.8 passer rating
