It's currently the off-season, so I'm going with whoever LSUs QB will be next year

Or maybe they've actually got a good one this year!!

Bear Bryant said that Archie Manning was best college quarterback he had seen after Archie set an SEC record for total yards against Bama

Bear always said ridiculously great things about his opponents. Especially after he beat them.

his completion percentage in conference?

This is a SEC thread chubbs.

You are the one that brought up his NFL accomplishments.

I have to agree with Bowl on this one. (And I hate to agree with Bowl on anything) Namath's biggest accomplishment was his prediction.
His college completion % was 54.3. He was great and accurate with the deep pass, but had not touch for the short passes.

I can tell you one thing.....the answer to the OP is certainly not Archie Manning. Both QBs, though, (Namath and Manning) had the ability to elevate the teams around them.

Tua. He couldn't do shite against elite defense.

danny wuerffel, noodle armed system guy. Love him, but he lacked the talent of the other guys mentioned.

Threw the prettiest goddamn corner route in history.

Danny W was actually more talented as a pocket passer than all the players after him that relied on the threat of running the ball to open throwing lanes. He just had impeccable timing and touch.

There's more to football, especially the QB position, than pure physical gifts.

Archie Manning was one of the greatest college QBs ever.

You should be perma-banned for the sheer imbecility of this one post.

He won a Natty and a super bowl with the Jets of all teams, Super Bowl MVP as well.

Namath is in the HOF basically because of his 'guarantee' that the Jets would win SB III.

His stats in the NFL are pedestrian, and he threw more INTs than he did TDs. He also has a losing record as a starting QB in the pros.

National Championships were awarded back then before bowl games were played....and Alabama lost to Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Alabama had one loss....Arkansas won all their games and beat Nebraska in their bowl.

Got to be Namath.

Tua may be slightly overrated (or prematurely crowned), but he completed 69% of his passes for 43 TD and 6 INT. Let's get real here.

I go Namath as the most overrated "all time great". He performed well in Super Bowl 3 sure and is a cool dude..but the guy wasn't an elite QB by any statistical measurement and never understood his outlandish hype in the pros.
