I did a lot of homework. It’s how I know Julio has gone from one of the best to nearly outside the top 15 in yac for receivers in the last 5 seasons, it’s how I know he was 52nd in the NFL in catch percentage this past season and 36th after the 2018 season (that is just WR’s), it’s how I know he was 4th in the league in drops last season and has never been the surest handed receiver.

He's only played eight full seasons since he was drafted into the league.

Look...I know you're trying to appear smart, and you obviously did your homework, but I think you're overthinking this pick. Derrick Henry had one good year. I love the guy but there are much better players than him who hail from Alabama who currently play in the NFL. I would rank Minkah Fitzpatrick and Eddie Jackson over Henry.

So on and so on. I’m not gonna waste my time arguing about it anymore cuz y’all seem to have a hard on for Julio, but it’s very much debatable.

You don't have any idea how catch percentage is calculated, do you?

You left out the fact that he's ranked Top 5 in the entire league in receptions per game, 1st down receptions, and total yards and led the entire league in receiving yards and yards per game in 2018 (he's done that twice in the past 5 seasons).

He also made the NFL All-Decade team, is a 7 time Pro-Bowler and is a 5 time All-Pro selection (each of the last 5 seasons).

But hey, he's only 52nd in the league at catching balls that were thrown in his general direction - catchable or not. Overrated, IMO.

I can’t argue with any of that. I’ll give you this, I’m an LSU and a Saints fan. I’m far from an expert on Alabama or any other school out there, but that’s what made this enjoyable for me, the research. I did 66 schools I think, and admittedly some I got flat out wrong. Just guys I overlooked.

I have to say, that is a fantastic bet.

What was the other side?

Probably didn't need to think that far ahead

I'm sure it was with Kwon Alexander.

Julio Jones is an NFL Hall of Fame lock. I don't see how one could justify putting Derrick Henry ahead of him at this point.

You said the magic words "At this point". Henry was the leading rusher in the NFL last year

At Julio's current rate, if he plays 8 more seasons then Julio will pass Rice is career yards - while having played in 3 fewer seasons - and that's not accounting for the fact his last 6 seasons >>>> his first three seasons. He'll do it before the end of his 7th season using a more recent trend of his playing.

Do you think Julio can continue to put up numbers at the same rate for 8 more years? 8 years is a long NFL career by itself, much less the back 9 of a career. He's already 31 years old. I'm not sure sure I'd be expecting a receiver to put up that type of production into their late 30s. That's one way Rice was so unique because he was one of the few that had that type of longevity. But even he hit somewhat of a wall when he got to his mid 30s. I just don't think it's reasonable to think Julio will be putting up 1400 yard seasons every year unto his late 30s. He'll need to play as long as Rice did IMO to flirt with his numbers. At the same time in their careers (9 years) Julio has 350 more yards than Rice did and 61 fewer TDs.

At this point, Julio has been named an All-Pro for 5 consecutive years and in 2019 became the youngest player ever to eclipse the 12,000 yard mark for a career.

It's going to be Joe burrow for LSU. He's going to be a star in the nfl.

He's going to get annihilated playing for the bungles.

Teams with the #1 overall pick aren't good?

It's possible but doubtful. I don't think anyone should be whispering Julio's name with Jerry Rice just yet, for reasons you stated further down in your post. Rice had the yards AND the touchdowns.

All of these Gump NFL Hall of Famers are better than Julio Jones. Jones is very good and MIGHT make the HOF but these guys are better.

Most All Decade guys make the HOF. Now this year they didn’t do a 1st and 2nd team for some dumb reason but if they did Julio would’ve been 1st team. Because that’s how highly a lot of people think of him over the last decade. And almost all 1st teamer non special teams make the HOF.

Out of the 16 WRs to make the All Decade team (that are also eligible so no recent 2010s team) in the modern era, 14 also made the HOF with the other 2 being finalists once each.

Fletcher Cox has had the best career of anybody from State in a long time, but Chris Jones might be the better player right now. Granted, Jones is 3-4 years younger, but he is putting up similar numbers to what Fletch did a few years ago.

If Fletcher had committed to Bama, he would have been a top 10 recruit nationally.

Julio Jones could probably retire tomorrow and make the HOF. His numbers are very comparable to those of Calvin Johnson who retired after 9 years, right where Julio is now. Julio has more yards and receptions, fewer TDs, more times on all-pro team, more pro-bowl selections. I assume you don't think Megatron is a maybe for the HOF.

I’ll say Laremy Tunsil for right now. Was a pro bowler and just became the highest paid offensive lineman in history.

The answer next year could easily be A.J. Brown or Dk Metcalf just because it is so much easier to measure their impact.

Yeah AJ Brown was heavily considered. What he did as a rookie was impressive, but doing it in Tennessee was even more impressive.
