This may be a bit homerish, but I believe the 2010 Bama team that spanked Michigan State in the Capital One bowl played like the number one team that day and could have won a playoff.

Not necessarily homerish. That's the nature of sports--some teams just come on strong late in the year. The Giants have been doing it for years in the NFL, the Spurs do it down the stretch in the NBA, and Jimmie Johnson does it in NASCAR.

Hell, to add on to your point, I believe the 2012 A&M team could have beat anyone in the country down the stretch, as hot as that 2 loss team was.

Completely disagree. Too many quality teams out there. I really believe 8 is the magic number, but I'd even be ok with double digits.

Nope, in 10 years you'll all be wondering why everything you loved about college football is gone and why we now just have an NFL junior without all the NFL talent.

Thanks everyone who didn't understand what you loved about college football and bitched and moaned until you changed it into something else.

4 teams is enough until the #5 team is a team like Notre Dame, Alabama, USC, etc, some team that has a lot of tradition and is a media darling. Then you will hear some bitching the likes of which we have never heard before.

I think we ultimately get to 8 in a few years which should be pretty ideal. I don't like the concept of byes for the top 2 teams because you could have multiple undefeateds up there.

Mizzou belongs in whatever the frick conference they just got kicked out of. I don't give a frick. frick you mother frickers.

Right on all accounts.

At the end of the college football regular season and conference championship week, I have never, and I mean never, thought more than 2-4 teams deserved a right to play for a national title.

4 teams allows for truly deserving teams to play, and still preserves the integrity of the regular season.

During the BCS era, #4 rarely if ever had any argument for a spot in the national championship. #2 versus #3 is where controversy has regularly arisen.

I'm willing to give 4 teams a shot. Still preserves the immense importance of regular season games (inbeforeAlabama2011mulligan). Still means you might have to go undefeated and most season lose one game at the absolute most (inbeforeLSU2007twolossBCSchampion).

8 would be the most I want to see. More than that is really going to start diluting the regular season which to me is what makes college football unique from almost all other sports.
