The homer maybe blinding but Bertman is just as deserving as any on the list other than the bear.

5 national titles in a decade is pretty damn good

I was going for football coaches only and those with only one NC are not deserving. I only put Spurrier because of what he has accomplished at USCe. His Gator run was great, but I think he's actually a better coach today because he now has a better appreciation for defense.

You can't put people that are still coaching on something like that. What if it came out tomorrow that Saban and/or Spurrier were the masterminds behind 9/11 or ran a child prostitution ring or had practiced the gay with one another more than once? You gotta wait a few years after they retire before you start building monuments. shite like this makes me wonder if W wasn't onto something when he asked the question "is our children learning".

Trust me, he's had an appreciation for defense since that 96 Fiesta Bowl.

Neyland, Rupp, Bear, and Summitt.

But I feel like 1 or 2 more should be added as well.

The Bear and the General are on there, and it's really not debatable, even if you're not limiting the discussion to football.

After that, it's a little more difficult. It's pretty hard to disagree with Spurrier and Saban, although I think you could make cases from some other guys for various reasons.

If you are going to include other sports than Bertman, Pat Henry, the UGA tennis and gymnastics coaches as well as the Arky cross country coach would all deserve consideration.

Spurrier is definitely deserving from a pure coaching standpoint and if I stuck to football only I'd probably put him on mine but he's still active and I'm sorta old school about not carving someone in stone while they're still coaching. However, I wouldn't put him on there due to his title wins but rather due to his program building skills. That to me is the area where he gets overlooked and underrated. I actually think the sports historians may well emphasize that aspect as his greatest trait years down the road (there are lots of great coaches but that's where Spurrier becomes not just a great coach but something really special, imo).

If you're including all sports, the old gal that once coached Georgia's gymnastics team would be a consideration.

Yeah, let's just stick to the only sport that matters.
