Notre Dame’ academic standard limited recruiting somewhat and they normally didn’t receive recruits from the likes of the South like an LSU or a Georgia would for example, on an overall scale. You’re not contextualizing it in depth. Said he hit the ceiling at Notre Dame while having more of a ceiling at LSU, which indicates it’s a better job and he, himself, can go to the next level. He did all he can in South Bend, actually made Irish relevant again. In the 2000’s, if anyone said Notre Dame would be in a BCS Championship game, they’d laugh it off. He did that and the playoff twice.
He beat Alabama and won the West in Year One with a depleted roster and a team projected to win six games, so the “ends up with a worse record than his previous years” narrative makes no sense. I've been thinking about this, and I don't necessarily think that you are wrong. Just know that Kirby brought the Valdosta boy, Glen Schumann over with him to UGA from Alabama, and has been grooming him now for over a decade.
There may be a succession plan already in place.

Notre Dame heavily recruited players from the South and all over the country. They got to cherry pick their schedule and didn’t have to play in a championship game. The competition is much more fierce in the SEC. All lsu fans who think BK will automatically do better at lsu are lying to themselves.

lol...hey guy, everyone has stopped with the ridiculous injuries excuses and the missed FG whining, so get on board. Everyone realizes now what you and a handful of others have not embraced; UGA reigns. We are the new sphere of dominance. UGA had injuries too against Bama. UGA missed some FGs too against Ohio st and still outscored them 18-3 in the end to prove we are the new standard. That is reality, except it. You'll sleep better tonight.

Born in GA, lived here most of my life. UGA fans have always been the most obnoxious, because for decades their team didn't do shite, but they acted as if it was their birthright.
The most annoying thing to me is, well, in 90% of the cases, I have one thing in common with UGA fans. Neither of us attended UGA. It cracks me up to see folks that didn't even go to college latch on and make a college sports team the center of their self-worth. I just don't get it.
