Kiffin. There is no good answer so might as well push all in with a high ceiling. Also depends where sark, dabo, and Kirby are at that point.

Why on earth couldn’t Bama get a big name? Scared to follow in Saban’s footsteps?

At the 92 reunion Dabo told his old teammates he would crawl through glass to be bama’s coach.

As of today, I'd be pulling for Kiffin or Dabo if I was a Bammer, but Saban probably has at least 3-4 years left, who knows who will be the hot commodity when the GOAT finally decides to retire...

Probably kiffin.

No normal coach will want to follow Saban

I imagine most normal coaches could think of about 10 million good reasons a year to follow Saban. Plus some of the best facilities in the country. There will be big expectations, but that's true now at every big time school with the salaries coaches are getting paid.

If it’s Greg Byrne making the hire - I don’t think anyone knows. With both Bohannon for baseball and Oats for basketball - the hires came out of no where. Byrne runs a tight ship and I doubt it’d leak.

So to answer the question - someone off the radar and not so obvious.

I will give you a clue. It's Brian Kelly!

Alabama will frick it up promoting whichever coordinator is the hot new prospect on Saban's staff when he retires.

Then we will cheer the return of the DuBose/Franchione/Shula period.

If they opt to go after someone with ties to the program there's 3 obvious names.

Lane Kiffin
Dabo Swinney
DeMeco Ryans

If they go no ties to Alabama I honestly have no clue who would be on a list.

You make Dabo say no, and he will. He thinks Clemson fans put pressure on him to win he would say no to following the goat and all the scrutiny that comes with it. Same with Kirby he’s not leaving alma mater. So I imagine whoever the third best coach is three years from now

So, all HCs should be at their school where they graduated?

when they have built what Kirby has, why leave? He is in a state with a hell of a lot more talent than Alabama has.

They were terrible hiring coaches until Saban fell in their lap

Curry was a damn good coach. Stallings won a NC. DuBose won the SEC title. Franchione wasn't terrible (at Bama at least). Who the frick knows how Price would have turned out? So that leaves us with Shula, who was truly the most shitty hire. But he was a desperation hire obviously.

And how many coaches has most of the conference shuffled through the last 15 years? Seems like you guys are pretty terrible at hiring coaches as well...

Because that is what fans of other schools try to get the HC to go elsewhere if he is having too much success!

I imagine that there will be talks with Dabo. He's still a very good head coach.

Why not try Saban good buddy Kirby Smart? Maybe Kirby will listen to Saban and honor his request to be the HC of Alabama? Might work!
