I just don't see Kirby ever leaving Georgia. Why would he?

but they're insane if they don't at least give Dabo an interview.

No they're not. Dabo isn't going anywhere regardless. His roots are too deep at Clemson at this point. It would honestly be a waste of valuable time haggling with he and his agent.

My guess is who they hire is not on anyone's radar right now. That's generally how these things play out.

one has objectively been a failure as a HC and the other isn't leaving for any other job on the planet.

He's still the clear-cut #2 in the biz, imo. And he did it all at Clemson - a place that clearly has potential, but is far from a sleeping giant like LSU was, or any of the Florida schools.

Dabo fell backwards into landing b2b generational QBs who both started for him 3 years. He also had the good fortune of playing in a conference with no competition during that run. He's had quite the reality check recently. His team was completely blown out last time he was in the playoffs, and his last two seasons have been highly disappointing. And now with his rock, Brent Venables, going out West and him just hiring former players of his to comprise his staff, I think Dabo's stock is trending down.

It took Dabo EIGHT years before turning the corner in year 9, and it isn't a coincidence that happened to be when Deshaun Watson became the full time starter, followed by Trevor Lawrence. His teams have been pretty good, not great, otherwise.

Also, since when is Clemson some difficult place to win? They were great under Danny Ford and Ken Hatfield and then pretty good under Tommy Bowden. The State of South Carolina is in a great recruiting area, plenty of talent in state and right next door in GA, TN, and NC.

The only reason people bring up Dabo is because he's an Alabama alum. I'll put it to you this way, if he wasn't an alum, do you think Alabama should have him as one of their top targets? Like do you actually think Dabo is the type of guy to take over for Saban and the type of program he's built? If the answer is no, then him being an alum shouldn't change that.

Saban will be there forever, so the next Bama coach is not born yet.

Smart hasn't done that bad. Cristobal would leave for Bama as fast as Smart.
