Curious but does mud til May have something to do with racing?

No, our 18 team could have competed with Clemson.

18? You would get smoked by Clemson
Hell, they copied Kirby's blueprint to stop the "unstoppable" Bama offense.
Hurts coming in screwed everything up for us.

It all started with Goff instead of Erk...
If Vince Dooley had accepted the Auburn job in 1981 Erk Russell very well may have become the head coach. I guess Georgia Southern is thankful it turned out the way it did

Would have been interesting to see who was gonna land the job had he left.
It was gonna be Erk or Pat Dye.

I think there's been enough payback.
Well in comparison, Florida paid it forward from about 1900 to 1984, then when we thought we had paid enough, we got smacked down by the SEC Presidents and had to pay some more.

Vince Dooley was just never that coach that was good enough to overwhelm you. Walker comes along and he used that kid's talent as a battering ram for 3 seasons. Dooley had no offensive imagination. With the way defenses tried to put their entire team on the LOS to get Walker slowed down he should have had more to show for it. And that lost to Penn State, man. That was a mirror image of the 2012 SECCG and 2017 NC? Does Georgia practice that?

were flunking out guys right and left in the late 80's along tighting our admissions for athletes. It certainly hurt us then.
The "Georgia way" (Dink Nesmith) guys hurt us more the 2000's...specifically when Saban got cranked up

Of course you reply with an emoji when you're completely clueless about what happened back then.
Tim Worley and Keith Henderson (both NFL RB's) lost eligibility over academic issues. George Brewer was the #1 prospect in the state and dismissed after 2 seasons for academic reason and wound up at Savannah St. Just some of the top players who were caught up in the overreaction from the Jan Kemp fiasco.
Were you living in Ga back then or even alive?
As for the "Georgia way" guys, here ya go: LINK
Tucker and Nesmith were both on the BOR
and had big influence on how things were done with UGA athletics.

“Georgia football has tried to do things the right way. UGA is more to me than just football,” Richard Tucker, a Board of Regents member of Georgia’s university system, told USA Today that week for a piece titled: “Is Georgia football caught between winning and winning right?”

Dink NeSmith, a former Board of Regents chairman, also was quoted in the USA Today piece, whose writer referred to Georgia as the “conscience of the SEC.”

Not it started in 1981 when we lost a National title in the final minute
Just watched the Sugar Bowl highlights. Pitt was 4th and 5 at the 38 with only 42 seconds left, no time outs and a 4 pt deficit. Marino for 6. Ouch. But didn’t matter re: the national championship ship because #1 and undefeated Clemson had the head to head vs Georgia and won out.
But, Here is one that did impact the national championship.

Mike Cavan made a deal with the devil so we could sign Herschel. Payment is still due.

Georgia has had a lot of teams since 1980 that were better than the 1980 team, but didn't get the job done.

Lots of teams say this stuff. Yeah you gotta get the breaks. End of the day: it's hard to win a natty.
