Do private schools qualify in the OP's question?

When reviewing a lot of the responses to the "national ranking" post, it made me think of this topic. Basically, schools that exist in a state with a "University of State" program in state.
Those were the parameters set forth.

No one's "burnt up."
You're just incorrect.
Flagship is defined by each state respectively; it doesn't necessarily mean "the most popular school among teenagers and 20-somethings."
You and anyone else can define Texas A&M University however you choose, but the state of Texas governance has the last word.
No big deal at all, and certainly nothing to debate.

Yeah, I know much of our fanbase is nuts with respect to our position in the world of sports. It is amusing for some of us to watch as well.

I think Texas actually has 3 designated flagship schools.

No, I usually comment based on an overreaction or troll from one of your crew. But, I don't mind using a bit of flair in my response.

Texas has three university systems classified as Tier 1 research universities (also University of Houston), but still just the two state flagships (UTex and Texas A&M).
Several others are working to add a third university system to the flagships, and it'll likely happen sooner rather than later.

So you are saying no but meaning yes

Perhaps if you want to be the flagship school of a state then whoever built A&M shouldn't have put it in the same state as one of the most popular schools in the nation

The Georgia Institute of Technology has 4 national football championships not 1 as the OP indicated.

(3) Texas A&M (16th Wins, 26th Win%, 19th Bowl App, 1 National Title)
How the hell is A&M and Auburn behind FSU in total bowl appearances when you guys had like a 50 year head start on us?

You left off LSU. They have to share with The University of Louisiana.

So aggy retroactively added two titles from over 80 years ago...and they have '10 listed under conference titles? They tied for first in the Big 12 South with OU and Okie State, and that qualifies them to claim that? So sad...

You could make an argument for Ohio State, but only sports supports it. Ohio University was around nearly 70 years before OSU, and OSU, like most "_________ State" schools were Morill Act of 1862 schools.

in 1878 the Ohio General Assembly passed a law changing the name to "The Ohio State University".
